Severe thunderstorm watches continue through midnight across southwestern Central Texas. Very large hail (3+ inches) and damaging winds are possible tonight.
After Thursday's cold front, expect cooler temperatures Friday afternoon. Highs will peak in the mid 70s to low 80s, up to about 5 degrees below normal for this time in May. Overall, skies will be partly to mostly sunny. There is a low chance for showers and storms across the far western Central Texas late afternoon and evenig. The severe threat remains low, but we can't rule out a strong storm.
A Thursday cold front will drop temperatures to slightly below normal values for Mother's Day weekend, with highs mainly in the mid to upper 70s. Mother's Day may end up a bit on the damp side as rain and storm chances return.
Looking ahead into next week, periods of showers/storms are expected as multiple storm systems move across the region. There will be a potential for severe storms including periods of heavy rain.
