Flight Deck - 23 Photos - Amusement Parks - 1 Great America Pkwy, Santa Clara, CA - Yelp
I rode this ride also when I was 12 years old when it was top gun and always remember the line whenever we got on the ride "battle stations battle stations welcome to Top Gun" Then, the airplane noises, but now it is flightdeck and just changed the color. This is one of my top rides on here as it is still smooth and not to jerky and one of the B&M that is not a clone of Batman the ride :)
This ride I can not marathon though as I think I have gotton older and usually the one that loops I can not do that many times. Definitely would recommend.
This is the best ride in Great America. This is an excellent roller coaster, twists and turns, and it gets right to it from the start. With all that it does, the ride is super smooth, no bumpy ride here, I wish all roller coasters were as smooth as FlightDeck. I think the the fact that your feet are hanging just adds to the experience. I always look forward to riding FlightDeck!!
A suspended Coaster you can't ever go wrong on like ever go wrong on as these are some of the best out there as the track is above your head and your feet are just flying through the wind as if they weren't there!
The front row on this coaster is the best I say that because the first loop after the lift hill is so much fun and by being in the front you almost go like straight into the ground in front of you leaving you with the first thrill in this flying adventure!
The ride has a few more twist and turns until you come to the spiral at the end that's right over the water where it feels as if your feet can almost touch it making for an even more exciting experience!
One thing I totally liked about this ride is they have two different lock boxes at the station for you to put your belongings in they then lock it as your train leaves and when you come back they unlock it with one box for each train it makes you feel a bit more secure leaving your belongings here wile you ride!
Overall this is a really fun coaster that I totally look forward to riding again as it's one of the better suspended coasters I've been on!
I would give this about 3.5...it packs a big punch for a short ride...the short ride is what keeps it from a 4 star rating for me....3rd best coaster at great america after Railblazer and Gold Striker which I think is the best coaster in northern California
