Tanya Tucker "Fire To Fire" was all I expected from Tanya. I have listed to Tanya since she became a singer and she's never disappointed me with her exceptional voice. She's done it again! I would tell friends to purchase this CD. They'd lose out if they didn't.

I think Tanya is one of the best female country singer of her generation and I personally think this album is very underrated.
I happened to listen to it over Thanksgiving, while I was doing some cooking and a lot of these songs really hit home for me and more so than some of her more successful albums did.
I think "Come in out of the World," "I'll Take the Memories," and "Nobody Dies from a Broken Heart," are all great modern country ballads.
Unlike other reviewers, I don't really care for "Between the Two of Them." To me, that song just seemed like an attempt to recreate "Two Sparrows in a Hurricane," which I also wasn't that fond of.
I won't say this is Tanya's best work on Capitol, Girls Like Me, Can't Run From Yourself and What Do I Do With Me? were all far better, but this is still a really good CD and especially so for the fire sale price.
Also, keep in mind what was happening at Capitol Nashville at the time.
Tanya was just one of many Capitol artists who got screwed over when Capitol turned into Garth Inc.

Reading the other review's. I am also a big Tanya Tucker fan and have all of her albums. And the ones that haven't been released on cd should be. I agree that this is not Tanya's best. My favorite is Here's Some Love. And Cant Run From Yourself and Girls Like Me of her Capital albums.
She was having a run of success in the 90s when this came out. But the songs released as single really weren't hits. Find Out What's Happening is a good uptempo song but it didn't really do much. The title song Fire To Fire is a duet with Willie Nelson and it's not either one of their best songs either. But Willie Nelson duets were usually successful. And it probably should have been a single.
There aren't any other songs that really stand out to me. This isn't a bad cd. Just not up to what she usually does. And most of her music since then has been like this too. I will keep buying anything that she puts out.

I remember racing to Wherehouse Records the day this was released. I could not wait to get the cellophane off the CD and have NEW Tanya Tucker music blaring out of my car CD. What I first heard left me speechless.. but not in a good way.. try as I may.. I just did not like it... i had heard the song Between the Two of Them and seen the video. It was not one of my favorites by her. I remember the reviewer for Billboard magazine when reviewing country singles the week Between the Two of Them was released had also reviewed a Vince Gill single. He said something about Vince sounding like he had a cold.. on the Tanya Tucker review he said and the same bad cold must be hitting Nashville hard. Her voice is not at its best on that song. So anyway as a good fan. i kept playing the CD and kept thinking.. Dern.. I really wanna like this but I don't. But after maybe a y ear or more i returned to it and realized i really like it and it is a good CD. The problem is the singles released to radio were not the right ones so the CD kind of died. I think it sold like 157,000 copies. This was not good following 4 platinum and one gold CD. It was soon apparent that Capitol was trying to capitalize on the success of the Can't Run From Yourself platinum selling CD when it came to releasing singles. They released Between the Two of Them which was apparently an attempt to replicate the success of Two Sparrows In A Hurricane.. from the Can't Run From Yourself CD.."Between the two of them" stalled at #28 on the Country Charts. The second single released was "Find Out What's Happenin';" which is a fun song. Here Capitol Records appeared to be trying to mimic the phenomenal success of "It's A Little Too Late" from Can't Run From Yourself. Find Out What's Happenin' peaked at #40 on the Country charts. No more singles were released and Fire To Fire became Tanya's worst performing album for Capitol. My choices as singles from Fire To Fire.. would have been first off. "I'll Take Today" a slow ballad that Tanya does a great job on.. followed by "Nobody Dies From A Broken Heart" (I really love the harmony of the background singers on this Song_.. Third single I would have chosen would have been the jazzy, bluesy, danceable.. Love Will.. That song might be the best on the CD... I cannot help but wonder if the singles selection had been different.. would Tanya have added another Gold CD to her collection.. anyways.. if you want all of Tanya's music. this is one to get...
but my personal favorite track is the title track. the duet with Willie Nelson. FIRE TO FIRE... i think it sizzles.. I blast that one SO LOUD

FIRE TO FIRE is a most enjoyable album. Tanya Tucker is on her game here. The first three songs "Come In Out Of The World", "I'll Take The Memories" (this cut was also done by Lorrie Morgan), and "I Bet She Knows" are slow and tender love songs. But "Find Out What's Happin'" livens the album up nicely. It is followed by a very pleasantly executed duet with Willie Nelson on the album's title cut, "Fire To Fire". The next song is my favorite, "Between The Two Of Them" is a wonderful love song that tells the story of two life-long lovers as remembered through the recollections of their daughter. Ironically, it is followed by "Nobody Dies From A Broken Heart" and "I'll Take Today", both of which explores lost love. The album wraps with the tender "The Love You Gave Me" and "Love Will". This is probably one of Tanya's best albums. FIRE TO FIRE burns bright. Get close to the flame and feel its warmth. You'll be glad you did.

It would appear that many people don't seem to hold Tanya Tucker's 1995 album 'Fire To Fire' in high regard, but I really do like it.
This was the last of her studio albums on the Capital label, where she had recorded a string of classics, and had some of the biggest hits of her career. Personally, I think this was a great way to finish, and it's a shame that this lady, with one of the finest voices in country music, has only released a mere three albums since. If I could send her a message now it would be: Come back Tanya, you've been away for too long!
I think that 'Fire to Fire' is one of Tanya's most 'mature' albums, which might seem quite surprising considering she was singing deep, adult, gothic songs whilst barely into her teens. But years later, with lots more life experience, she gave her fans this gem of a record, which remains one of my most played of her's.
I don't really care for Willie Nelson a great deal, but the title track, which Tanya recorded as a duet with him is quite special, and should have been released as a single. The first three songs are also nuggets: 'Come In Out Of The World', which is particularly radio friendly and always makes me feel good whenever I hear it's positive, reassuring lyrics, the emotional 'I'll Take The Memories', and the dark, seductive story-teller 'I Bet She Knows'.
'Fire to Fire' contains a good number of slow/laid-back ballads, but if you want a more up-tempo Tanya, then look no further than the fourth song 'Find Out What's Happening', which was released as a single, and is a very lively country tune. After that, it's back to the ballads with 'Between The Two Of Them', which sounds quite similar to her timeless hit of a few years previously, 'Two Sparrows In A Hurricane'. This one is a very special song to her, it was dedicated to Tanya's parents, and the lyrics, about everlasting love are simply beautiful.
In short, I love this album, with the thoughtful songwriting, excellent production, and about the finest vocals you'll hear from a female country artist. Tanya has never made it big in the UK, which is not only a mystery to me but a real shame, especially as 'Fire to Fire' still knocks spots off some of the music that was hitting the charts in 95, and has aged very well.
