Fiorello H. Laguardia High School Of Music & Art & Performing Arts Reviews
Rating 3.79 out of 5 1,219 reviews
I love my school so much: the community, the arts aspect, and the individuality it allows. I feel like I can absolutely be myself there. The teachers at LaGuardia are so welcoming and warm. The creativity is palpable when walking through the halls. My favorite part about my school would definitely be the plethora of shows each year across all the majors. I love seeing the Jazz ensemble, the opera and dance shows, etc. There's just so much to see! I also appreciate that during the summer, no matter your major, you're allowed to take classes in writing, acting, dance or directing. These summer workshops are extremely fun and allow you to stretch yourself while getting a taste for what other majors experience. It's hard to find what I don't like about LaGuardia, but if I had to, I would say the design of the building. I am a sucker for lighting, and LaGuardia halls are devoid of that. There aren't many windows in the halls from 3rd floor to the 7th.
Overall it is a very good school when it comes to academic. Since LaGuardia Community College is very diverse, you also won't feel lonely or isolate. The college campus is really welcoming and friendly. The professors are also very nice. If you plan to transfer to 4 year colleges, I would say LaGuardia is one of the best community colleges for transfer students. There are so many clubs, events, and activities every week. It's really fun to be at LaGuardia.
When I joined Laguardia High School, a community of talented people two years ago, I knew I was in good hands. I was shocked with the amount of freedom we were given. It taught me how to advocate for myself and I was able to find the true meaning of discipline. There are many opportunities to share your art with people who are just as creative as you and there's a ton of clubs that will help you refine your craft and gain memorable experiences. Laguardia has a ton of resources within and outside of school. After school, I would walk a few feet to Lincoln Center to either study, visit the Performing Arts library, or just to simply relax after a long day. The overall vibe of the school is very chill. The teachers are very understanding and most of them value your mental health. There are many delicious food options to choose from upon taking a one stop train ride either uptown or downtown. Although the environment is very competitive, it pushes me to become the best version of myself.
