Finding Dory: Cast and characters list

Formerly on-screen foes, Dominic West and Idris Elba are teaming up for Pixar’s Finding Dory, voicing a pair of lazy sea lions.

The two prominent alums of HBO’s The Wire are among the star-studded voice cast members announced Wednesday for the sequel to 2003’s Finding Nemo.

Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks reprise their roles as Dory and Marlin, as do Stanton (Crush) and Bob Peterson (Mr. Ray). Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton join the school as Charlie and Jenny, Dory’s long-lost parents.

Other new swimmers in Dory‘s ocean include a pair of Modern Family members in Ed O’Neill and Ty Burrell, as well as Kaitlin Olson, Torbin Bullock, Hayden Rolence, and Bennett Dammann. Bill Hader and Kate McKinnon will also feature in a brief cameo.

“It really is a whole new chapter this time,” director Andrew Stanton said in a statement. “We’re introducing new characters — each with his or her own unique voice. Everyone has something special to offer, which makes it fun and elevates the whole story. Finding Nemo was a great calling card when it came to casting this movie. I don’t take that for granted.”

DeGeneres returns as Dory, the memory-challenged regal tang fish. Dory realizes she’s forgotten her parents and sets out to find her family.

Marlin (Brooks) and Nemo (Rolence) are the father-son clownfish duo a year removed from the insane adventures of Finding Nemo. While Marlin is initially hesitant to go into the big sea again, Nemo is eager to venture out.

Charlie (Levy) and Jenny (Keaton) are Dory’s lost, protective parents. Jenny comes off as happy and spacey like her daughter, but she’s truly caring in the best way. Meanwhile, Charlie is a regular joker, dedicated to instructing Dory how to live in the world.

Hank (O’Neill) is a seven-armed, humorless octopus at the Marine Life Institute with one goal on his mind: transferring to a cushy Cleveland facility to relax.

Destiny (Olson) is a whale shark who struggles with coordination. Dory meets her when she falls into her tank at the Marine Life Institute and commends her elegant swimming

Bailey (Burell) is a beluga whale at the Institute. His “flair for the dramatic never ceases to push his neighbor’s buttons: whale shark Destiny can’t seem to get through to him, no matter how hard she tries,” the official description reads.

Elba and West are Fluke and Rudder, a pair of apathetic sea lions at the Institute. They really like to nap.

Mr. Ray (Peterson) is Nemo’s dedicated, sing-songy teacher back on the reef. Dory enthusiastically assists him on field trips.

Meet Becky (Bullock), an odd loon who develops a particular fondness of Marlin. “Although she inspires little confidence —especially from a certain, skeptical clownfish,” the description reads, “Becky might be smarter than she looks.”

Coo-coo ca-choo! Who could forget about Crush (Stanton)? The ancient sea turtle continues cruising through the ocean, as he’s done for the century or so.

And of course, the other half of the reptile duo: Squirt (Dammann), the tiny son of Crush.
