      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Clumsily derivative, shoddily assembled, and fundamentally miscast, Feeling Minnesota sets out for romantic comedy and gets irrevocably lost along the way.

Audience Member Pretty underrated movie, reminds me of Boyle's A Life Less Ordinary. The comedy is pretty subdued, so maybe it's easy to misread the tone of the flick. I think both d'Onofrio and Reeves excel at physical comedy here, and Diaz isn't nearly as bad as some of the other critiques seem to suggest. If you generally enjoy a melancholic Midwestern milieu, somewhat quirky comedy and an unlikely love story of some ordinary, perhaps downtrodden, people, this is the movie for you. As a cherry on top in this grunge romance, an appearance from Courtney Love just gives the film that extra hint of self-irony. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie!!! I remember seeing in it 96 and then didn't see anything about it till a year ago. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/20 Full Review jona i So clumsy that it takes a long time to figure out there is even a plot afoot; and still, it meanders incessantly. Small-time, stupid characters. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Feeling Minnesota is such a dumb movie. I wonder how many people have watched just because it's Keanu. It's the lamest movie ever. Anne Billson Daily Telegraph (UK) Steven Baigelman, who wrote and directed, aims for offbeat, flippant Tarantino-esque lowlife kicks but misses the mark on every count, having no feel for characters, plot, action or dialogue. Nov 27, 2017 Full Review Adam Mars-Jones Independent (UK) Keanu Reeves does his usual impression of a man trying to get to grips with some really difficult arithmetic. Like him, the movie is dim-witted, bland to the taste and, all in all, rather a waste of space. Nov 14, 2017 Full Review Emanuel Levy Variety Everything in and about Baigelman's debut is irritatingly derivative: second-hand plot, small-time characters, limited and movieish vision, and bad performances for Reeves and Diaz.
