Fad Gadget is the Alter Ego used by Frank Tovey (8 September 1956 – 3 April 2002).
Tovey became the first artist to sign to the label Mute, the single Back To Nature became his first release in 1979.
Fad Gadget released four albums: Fireside Favourites, Incontinent,Under The Flag and Gag and a bunch of singles from 1979 to 1984.
In 2001 Frank was invited by his apprentices and former label mates Depeche Mode to support them on their Exciter Tour, after that he started making new music but the year after he died of a heart attack.
