Inter scouted Lens defender Facundo Medina during yesterday evening’s friendly clash with the French side, but his profile is not considered to be the right one to complete the defense for next season.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri observed the 23-year-old but are looking for a right-footed defender instead.
Medina has been one of the players offered to Inter in defense this summer, with the Argentine’s agent having met with the club, and they are interested in him.
However, given that Alessandro Bastoni already has the starting place on the left of the Nerazzurri’s back three with Federico Dimarco backing him up, a left-sided defender is not a priority.
Instead, coach Simone Inzaghi wants a right-footed player signed to take over Andrea Ranocchia’s spot as backup in the middle, and so the club could look to a low-cost option, possibly even waiting to see who is available later in the transfer window and looking for playing time before the World Cup.
