PROG REVIEWER
This album is diversified and finally welcome when compared to its two predecessors (but this was an easy job). Still, the band is breathing more between albums and I guess that even if some fans are glad to see the band releasing new studio works, it is mainly dedicated to their devoted fan base in The Netherlands (they almost exclusively tour in their home country) than to attract new fans.
Some tracks are pleasant but the melodic country-styled ''Johnny Make Believe'' is not my cup of tea. I far much prefer the strange ''The Unforgettable Dream'' with its vaguely Oriental flavour combined with some accordion (what a mix!). I told you: diversification is the name of the game here.
GE recorded a patchwork of influences on this album. Maybe too much. There is the inevitable rock ballad (with a country flair) ''I Can't Do Without Your Kiss'' which is IMO the weakest track from this offering (but I have never liked that style).
My fave from this work is the excellent rock tune ''Freedom Don't Last Forever''. The beat is well sustained and I'm only missing a true great guitar break to make it really shine. The good closing track (''Legalize Telepathy'') is quite upbeat, almost punkish and is a fine way to close this work.
Two stars.
