Fabrizio Castori has been restored as Carpi head coach just a month after he was sacked by the Serie A strugglers.

Castori won promotion to the top division for the first time in the club's 106-year history last season, but was fired in September after picking up just two points from their opening six games.

Giuseppe Sannino replaced Castori and secured the Modena club's first and only Serie A win in his opening match in charge against Torino.

However, Sannino has paid the price after three defeats followed by a goalless draw against Hellas Verona at the weekend left the club bottom of the table.

"Carpi announces it has sacked Giuseppe Sannino as coach of the first team and John Cusatis from the role of technical director," said the club in a statement.

"At the same time, the technical control of the first team has been handed to Fabrizio Castori, who will conduct training this afternoon."

Castori's first match back in charge of the Biancorossi will be a trip to Sassuolo on Sunday.
