Fabio Capello says Tottenham player has ‘improved’, he is ‘really intelligent’

Fabio Capello has told Sky Sports – as per Football Daily on Twitter – that Tottenham striker Harry Kane has “improved” a lot and believes the England skipper is “really intelligent”, labelling the star as England’s most-important player.

Kane, 29, failed to find the back of the net for England on Monday. That is, despite England winning 6-2 against Iran. However, the Spurs star – who has earned criticism for dropping deep at times – did lay on two assists for England.

He was excellent up top, and just is his importance – the country held its breath when he went down after a robust tackle on his ankle. Kane of course, is notorious for suffering injuries to his ankles. But he soldiered on for England.

Ex-England gaffer Capello will have been watching a lot of Spurs, given the Italian connection at the North London club. He gave his take on Kane, heaping praise on the Three Lions man – praising him for his improvement.

“The player that improved the most, is Kane. He’s not only a forward – more than a nine. He moves on the pitch really intelligently. He is the player that other teams have to control. He is the most important player in the England team.

“He plays in the same position he does for Tottenham. The position Kane plays in, it makes it difficult to stop him. He has the space, and arrives running into the box, it is really, really dangerous. He is dangerous in scoring, and assists.”

Capello: Tottenham striker Kane is England’s most-important player

Jude Bellingham proved on Monday that he is smack bang in the debate for the title of England’s most-important player. Raheem Sterling showed his experience, Bukayo Saka got two goals. Declan Rice was solid at the base.

But without doubt, it is Kane. He is the player that links everything, as a 10 – but also scores goals. No, he did not score against Iran but he will score at this tournament and remains a contender for the golden boot, come December 18.
