Timo Becker joins Hansa Rostock on loan

FC Schalke 04 have loaned out Timo Becker to FC Hansa Rostock for the rest of the season. The centre-back’s contract with the Royal Blues runs until the end of the 2022/23 campaign. The financial details of the loan move are undisclosed.

“It’s incredibly important for Timo to get match practice at the highest possible level. We also came to the agreement that a change of scenery would be good for his development. We wish him all the best for his time in Rostock,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder.

The 24-year-old is a product of the Schalke youth academy. The defender was in the Knappenschmiede from 2007 to 2013, returning to S04 in 2019 after a spell at Rot-Weiss Essen. He earned himself a place in the first team with his performances for the U23s and has since featured in 24 Bundesliga games and five second-division matches for the Royal Blues.
