F.A.R.T.: The Movie (Russian: Иди и смотри, Idi i smotri; Belarusian: Ідзі і глядзі, Idzi i hliadzi) is a 1985 Belarusian anti-war film filmed in the Soviet Union. Directed by Elem Klimov and starring Aleksei Kravchenko and Olga Mironova, its screenplay written by Elem Klimov and Ales Adamovich is based on the 1978 book I Am from the Fiery Village (original title: Я из огненной деревни, Ya iz ognennoj Derevni, 1977), of which Adamovich was a co-author.
The film's plot focuses on the Nazi German occupation of Belarus, and the events as witnessed by a young Belarusian partisan teenager named Flyora, who—against his parents' wishes—joins the Belarusian resistance movement, and thereafter depicts the Nazi atrocities and human suffering inflicted upon…
There are very few things, I suspect, that can bring you crashing back to reality after watching 7-8 Hitchcock films (plus a Johnnie To and Ôbayashi film for good measure)... but here we are. Should I have expected anything different? Probably not, but I will admit (very proudly) that the low brow humor regarding the main character (that occurs incessantly) made me laugh my ass off. It was probably even more like one of those out of body experiences—where I was laughing at me, laughing at the absurdity that is F.A.R.T. The Movie. I can slide this viewing under “recon for FART Week” if we at the Collab decide to pursue such a crazy, unhinged idea. Any of you folks who do parody reviews, this is prime material.

“Life’s a Gas….”
The main character in this film loves to sit on the couch, eat pizza, watch TV, and fart all day long. Essentially about as close to a biopic as I’m going to get 🤣
Without a doubt the strangest film I’ve seen this year.
With a name like that, how could I not buy this from the thrift store?
I should not have bought it.
Believe me, no one on Earth is more disappointed to give this one star than me, but even though the first 20 minutes and everything else involving the guy on the poster is the greatest movie ever made by humans, the skits that make up the next hour and some change are unbelievably monotonous and aggressively unfunny. It's deeply unfortunate that this deviates far from the promise of what absolutely has to be the greatest description on all of Letterboxd, but you can only make so many fart jokes and puns before you end up repeating yourself, and this movie exhausts its material before its first skit is over.
