Product Description
Everything Is Copy - Nora Ephron: Scripted and Unscripted profiles the life of Nora Ephron, the writer/director who was known for her acerbic wit and whose films include such cultural touchstones as Silkwood, When Harry Met Sally, and Sleepless in Seattle. Written and directed by her son, Jacob Bernstein, the film is Bernstein's personal investigation into his mother's favorite motto, "Everything is copy" -- a philosophy that all that happens in life, good and bad, is fodder for comedy. The film charts Ephron's career, starting from an early stint as a reporter for the New York Post to regular columnist for Esquire, the New York Times and Cosmopolitan; her rise to become one of Hollywood's most sought-after writer/directors; as well as her high-profile relationships with celebrities in Hollywood and in the literary world; and, in her later years, her diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome -- an illness she kept largely a secret until her death in 2012. Everything Is Copy also features intimate interviews with many of those closest to Ephron, including her sisters Delia, Amy and Hallie, along with friends Meryl Streep, Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and many others. In addition, Ephron's words come to life through video and audio clips of Ephron, and through dramatic readings of her essays by Reese Witherspoon, Lena Dunham and others.

This is more than a documentary about some famous lady that directed some sappy chick flicks. This is a love letter to Mother's everywhere. Thank you, Ms. Ephron, for making the world a little brighter and a lot funnier!
By the way her sister Delia Ephron's book:"How To Eat Like A Child And Other Lessons In Not Being A Grownup" is one of the best books you can ever invest your time in.
in a variety of circumstances that she illuminates with her wit and warmth. I feel deeply indebted to her son Jacob, Steven Spielberg, the
creative and production staff, and her family, for sharing her inspiring life through the production of, "Everything is Copy" in DVD form.
I can't thank you enough; she will be with us forever.

As a writer of fiction and screen plays she was less accomplished. Her work was either too biographical or too steeped in schmaltzy wish fulfillment at odds with her more important and original writing. In short, she was as confused as the rest of us amidst rapidly redefined roles of women and men that goes on to this day.
And it makes sense that she'd have nothing good to say about someone like Julie Nixon, the pre-feminist notion of an accomplished ideal woman: naturally beautiful, smart, educated and so loyal that she campaigned around the country defending a father who was lying to her and the rest of us. Say what you will about her, and she did, she's no chocolate covered spider.
I can't help but wonder what Nora Ephron would make of Julie Nixon's contemporary counterpart, Ivanka Trump. Surgically altered and successful in her own right, many cringe to think of her as the post-feminist ideal. Ms. Ephron, no doubt, would have some choice comments on that subject I'd likely very much agree with.

In my research, I discovered this amazing documentary called "Everything is Copy" and I had to have it for my Ephron collection. I wanted to know this amazing writer, international author and personality, as generally, she got away with not letting her dear close "celebrity friends" know that she was sick and would die of leukemia in such a short time. If you've read any of Nora's books, you can't escape reading one book, one article, one essay or short story and not have many moments of laughter or feeling a definite smile on your face!
This DVD documentary is well produced by her son Jacob Bernstein and the historical background to early Nora to her death in 2012. Bernstein interviews many friends, family and celebrities who knew her well. My curiosity has been resolved and I enjoyed this DVD from beginning to end!
