very good music...I am and have always been surprised by why Nils has not had larger commercial acclaim than he has had...he is very talented and his music is better than 75% of what is being played on radio or tv
This is the soundtrack to the 1993 film "Every Breath", starring Joanna Pacula. There are a few instrumentals but mostly this is comprised of songs written by Nils for the movie, many in a blues or gospel style. Nils handles some of the lead vocals but shares the singing on others with two very capable vocalists, Tom Lepson (who generally handles the bluesier numbers) and Bonnie Sheridan (who really shines on the gospel-flavored material). Nils great guitar work colors all the selections, regardless of style. It's refreshing to hear Nils step away from the rock 'n' roll for a change and really tear it up on some great slow blues, Roy Buchanon-style. And the gospel stuff is great, Bonnie Sheridan sings the heck out of the songs and it's so unusual to hear such outstanding guitar work in a gospel context. Standout tracks include "Fallen Into His Hands", "No Return", "Tryin' Not To Fall", and a lovely duet sung by Lofgren and Sheridan, "Tender Love". Nils should branch out more often, because this outstanding album proves him capable of so much more that his signature Rolling Stones-ish rock.
