A great introduction to this legendary American rock band, from the 70's to the 90's.
Yeah, this is not the essential compilation for the die-hard CT fan (none of the mid to late 90's videos, and none of their clips from Don Kirshner, Midnight Special, SNL & Old Grey Whistle Test are on it). Still, a great find to enjoy what basically is the video twin to their greatest hits CD that came out roughly at the same time.
Had this release on VHS for the past 2 decades. Wanted to phase out my videotapes and was pleased to see this available on DVD.
Enjoy & "...Go completely wild!!!"

I have been a fan of Cheap Trick ever since March of 2008, when I saw them live at the convocation center in Dekalb Illinois. I got dragged to the show by my brother, but a second into their intro song "Hello There," I was completely hooked, and since then I have been collecting every Cheap Trick related product I can get my hands on. This DVD is no exception.
First of all, The product was shipped very quickly, which has always been my experiance with Amazon orders. It came well packaged and although the description said "acceptable condition, it looked practically new. The box was mint, and the disc inside looked as if it had never been taken out.
Secondly, the program played pefectly when I watched it. Although being a Cheap Trick fanatic, I do wish that the collection could have featured some of their newer offerings, such as "saygoodbye," and "Woke up with a Monster". However, I believe that the origninal VHS version of every trick in the book was released a few years before either of those aforementioned videos, so I can't really complain.
Over all, a great buy for those who can't make it through a day without hearing a few "Voices," or air-guitaring "Ain't That a Shame".

I had been waiting years to have this on DVD, thwarted by Sony's long-standing halt on releasing back catalogue music video programs on DVD, but now, for the first time ever, Sony Music has licensed a video program to an independant label(Britain's "Cherry Red") for DVD reissue. Fear not, North American fans, because the disc has been manufactured primarily for export to North America, and it is NTSC/All Regions. Amazon had initially, incorrectly listed this as a Blu-Ray disc, but rest assured that it is a regular DVD.
The compilation is mostly a collection of music videos from the group's 1970's & 1980's heyday on the EPIC label. Now we fans can finally retire our old VHS & Laserdisc editions of the program.

I'm a big fan of Cheap Trick but not of their videos. This collection of vidoes shows how poor many of their videos are. Yeah, these vidoes are old, and I know music videos back then were in a state of experimentation. Why didn't they at least fill the videos with lots of pretty girls?
I must admit that the memories some of these videos bring back are amazing, as I forgot about most of these videos - but I keep listening to their records (cds).
An exception is, Ain't That a Shame, which is a clip from what looks like a television show in Japan. No girls at all in the video but the clip is raw, CT really jams and this is the best footage I've ever seen of them. I just keep rewinding and watching this clip.
Only the most devoted of fans will find this video worthwhile. My message to CT for future videos is learn from the mistakes.
I am pissed that CT doesn't get the radio play they deserve, and Rick cut that mustache and beard.

This video tape has a lot of great old videos from Cheap Trick. I used to play their vinyl records all the time when I was younger. Since I got this tape I remember well why I love them so much.

Wish they had more of the early songs. Nice to see some extra footage between some songs

Too many 80's gag me videos. I realize it was a product of the time, but just too much of the same. The few rare bits are worth a watch, but I wished the could have added more. This band really lacks in the video department unfortunately. I am surprised there is not more available.
The Blu-Ray of Sgt Pepper is excellent if you do not have that.

First of all, let me say that I am a HUGE Cheap Trick fan. I pre-ordered this item on blu-ray because I wanted this item for years. I used to have this on vhs. I was very excited to find out it was coming out. Amazon sent me the regular dvd (for some reason it was never coming out on blu-ray!) Amazon never sent me a correction notice or anything. I saw postings that other Cheap Trick fans were pissed for the same reasons. Some of these people received info from Amazon. I decided to keep my standard copy on dvd because I waited years for the item to be available. I put it in and I have to be honest....It was the worst picture quality one could see. It looked like they transferred a used vhs copy over to dvd. Picture quality is CRAP at best! I hope Cheap Trick or their management didn't have any control over this, but it is by far the worst I have ever seen on dvd. They could have taken the time to clean the picture up. I would rate this no stars if I was allowed to.
I also believed that they could have added more videos to the set. Where's "Up the Creek"?
I also pre-ordered the new Sgt. Pepper concert. I hear great things about it. That will be my next review.

This is a great video collection of the band from (really) 1978-1990 on film. Aside from the ascending chronology (which is incorrect just over half way through) its a testament to the good songs the band wrote and funny videos that accompanied them. Some in fact i had never seen (thanks alot MuchMusic, MTV, etc ...NOT!). This was a great trip down memory lane i plan on going back to once in awhile and I am proud it's in my collection of great 20th century rock and roll media! My particular favourites are Dream Police, I Can't Take It and Tonight It's You. Clocking in at a mere 72 minutes, it would have been nice to have seen some more footage of earlier material (e.g. a live rendition of material from soundtracks like Roadie or Heavy Metal) though.

Poor quality

If you want to own nearly all of Cheap Trick's promo videos on DVD, then I'm afraid this is your only option. I used to own the VHS of this and wanted to watch these again. The program itself is entertaining enough, but the quality of the DVD is poor by today's standards. This looks to have been mastered from a VHS copy. It's OK, it's watchable, but it's pretty much the same quality as it was back in 1990 - and that doesn't look so good on a modern HD TV.

Great to see the tricksters in their video form. Wish the people who produced the video had taken extra care at the end to sync up the video and lyrics making what could have been a great video only good.

This is a great studio produced DVD by a brilliant band. An excellent selection of some fantastic tracks by Cheap Trick. I had this on VHS and wore it out, something you can't do on DVD!! If you are a Cheap Trick fan this is a must have!!
