When it comes to academics, Everglades offers a ton of AP/AICE/Dual Enrollment courses so you can take anything you want. There are also solid teachers teaching these courses who are passionate about the subject. There’s also a ton of clubs you can join or you create your own if it’s not available. When it comes to programs, sports medicine is solid for pre-meds and builds a lot of community between the students. The arts was lacking for a while but it’s gotten much better. However, the school bureaucracy can be disorganized and some seniors get stuck at MANDATORY assemblies that don’t apply to them and it wastes time. The school spirit was also nonexistent for sometime after COVID but it’s recently been improving A LOT. Overall you take what you make out of it at this school!
Going to Everglades these last four years has been a mix of emotions with the experiences I've had here. The majority of the administration is very supportive and always tries to give us students a hand when we are struggling, whether that's behaviorally, academically, or mentally. They are right there to pick us up when we need it the most. I can definitely say our brace team (college advisory) is top-tier, and they do everything in their power to give us the best chance possible at not only getting into college but getting funds for college as well. They are extremely understanding and patient. The teachers here can be very 50-50. Some teachers love their job and their students, which makes their teaching more effective. However, I feel like some teachers look at their job as a chore and treat it as such as well, which can negatively affect students. Overall, I feel like Everglades is a good environment for students, as long as they also put in the work necessary to be successful.
Honestly, Everglades is a really good school. It definitely had its ups and downs. I definitely think they need more club options, etc., and they could be more involved with sports teams other than football. Education-wise, teachers were great! electives need to be expanded because there aren't a lot of option.
