Major milestone reached in construction of The Landing

04:00PM, Thursday 01 June 2023

A topping out ceremony has taken place at The Landing development in Maidenhead town centre – marking a major milestone in the project.

Work has been ongoing at the site since October 2021 to build 429 homes across a number of towering apartment blocks.

Constructor JJ Rhatigan has revealed the mammoth housing project is ahead of schedule and the first residents are expected to move in in 2024.

A topping out ceremony was held on Thursday, May 25 which saw staff at JJ Rhatigan and its extended teams gather to celebrate the progress of the project.

Topping out ceremonies are traditions within the construction industry which normally occur when the final structural beam is raised into place.

Ger Ronayne, chief executive at JJ Rhatigan, said: “We are delighted to be working with Hub again, building upon our strong relationship – and with the team at Smedvig.

“At JJR we understand that handover is just the first step, Get Living will take this impressive development and turn each apartment into a home – and we are proud to be part of something bigger than ourselves, something so important to the people of Maidenhead.”

All 429 apartments within The Landing will be available to rent and will be managed by build-to-rent operator, Get Living.

The company owns and operates residential neighbourhoods, including the former athletes’ village at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The Landing project, which is run by developer HUB and investment firm Smedvig, is also set to feature 23,000 sq ft of ground floor retail space and a landscaped plaza.
