The Band - The Last Waltz, Ten Years After - Live at the Fillmore East 1970, Bob Marley & The Wailers - Easy Skanking in Boston '78, John Butler Trio - Live at Red Rocks
Eric Clapton's Rainbow Concert Waylon Live The Clash - From Here to Eternity Pearl Jam - Live At Benaroya Hall My Morning Jacket - Okonokos Nirvana - From The Muddy Banks of The Wishkah
Bill Frisell east/west and further east/west as well as his live trio with Kermit Driscoll and Joey Baron. Hell, any live Bill Frisell. Miles Davis: everything recorded live but especially four and more, live/evil, and plugged nickel. All of John Coltrane live at the village vanguard in the early 60s. Monk solo, monk with trane, monk at the pawnshop. Fela Kuti’s live stuff. James Brown love power peace. There are many many live albums I love. Mostly jazz if it isn’t GD or JGB. Lots of edits because I kept thinking of stuff that could be considered favorites of mine. At one point or another I listened to each of these exclusively for weeks straight. But I get a bit obsessive about whatever music is great for me at any given moment.
ALRIGHTY So i know to original Byrds were notoriously shoddy performers but did y'all know they turned into a lightning-powered country rock jam band in the latter half of their career? After Crosby and Gene Clark left and Gram swiped up Chris Hillman and Michael Clarke to go make the Flying Burrito Brothers, the new lineup of
Roger McGuinn and Clarence White on dueling lead, Skip Battin on bass (also in the Burritos AND The New Riders) and Gene Parsons (incredible dude) on drums was incredible and lit up stages across the US and Europe from '69-'72 till Terry Melcher ruined their reputation. Every deadhead who reads this comment, PLEASE give these two
The Byrds: Live at the Fillmore West 1969
The Byrds: Live at Royal Albert Hall, 1971
And also their (untitled) album a spin. You will NOT be sorry
I wish there was an actual almum of only HIS Woodstock set rather than the whole Woodstock..but Johnny Winter's Woodstock set was the best blues playing ever to me. The Woodstock version of Be Careful With a Fool was another level of guitar playing. I wish Johnny Winter played with Jerry just once. I can only find that set in Spotify tho
