- dionne h8 contributionsOne of prettiest beaches in TobagoGorgeous beach. Off the beaten path and totally worth the trip! Chances are, you'll have it all to yourself. Consider stopping for the happy hour at Castara Retreats afterwards. The sunset views are spectacular.Visited April 2023Written July 10, 2023
- MikeSumChewton Mendip, United Kingdom35 contributionsBest little beach in Tobago!!Best beach in Tobago by far! Go down the little dumpy dirt track, park up and walk into paradise. Never busy, you may even be lucky enough to have the beach to yourself. Lovely little store as you walk in with very reasonable prices for souvenirs, plus serves sone lovely food. Definitely recommended..Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten July 15, 2023
- Padiy81 contributionsBeautiful clean beachThis is a beautiful beach. We visited at the end of Oct 23 and had the beach to ourselves most day. Can rent loungers and there is a cafe which serves seriously delicious roti!!! Worth going just for that! The waters can get quite choppy, so wouldn't recommend for small children. But other than that I thought it was one of the best beaches in tobagoVisited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 31, 2023

This is a classic tropical island beach, fringed by palms with a clear blue sea. The beach cafe is excellent tooo.

Very quiet and beautiful unspoiled bay. Could spend several hours here and not see a soul. Worth a visit.

I love escaping to Englishman's Bay now & then... bottle of water, my book and just lay there, enjoying the sun. Grab a spot of lunch at Eula's too.

Spent the day driving around and stopping at beaches. This was by far the best one. Very natural with almost no building in sight.

Ridiculously beautiful beach with only a few visitors. We found it made a perfect day trip from Castara although as someone says there is not much in the way of public transport. The day can pass in a very relaxing manner with a stroll along the beach, a swim with good snorkelling, and a nice lunch at Eula's cafe, followed by a snooze on the beach and more swimming. Do watch out for the dangerous manchineel tree (and its fruit) though - it is labelled but not very conspicuously. Once you identify it you can easily avoid it. The right hand end of the beach as you face the sea shelves least steeply.

Living in Tobago at times I take off for the day and check on local beaches/restaurants etc
I still cannot recommend Englishman’s Bay. Now don’t get me wrong nice to park your car take a few photos but that is about it.
Swimming at times the current is strong and be prepared for a nasty shelf as you are going out into the water
in the past there have been incidents on this beach with people being robbed.... maybe that sticks in my brain and I just can’t feel to recommend this beach

A beautiful beach which has very few people on it. Great snorkelling and a lovely cafe and gift shop. Sun beds available. Loved it.

Is there a coastal hike from Castara to Englishman's Bay? If so is it regarded as safe? Thankyou!

You can follow the north side rd put of Castara and walk on the road. There isn't a coastal path. The only danger would be from passing cars as the road is narrow in places and quite winding.

Hi, it is only a 5 minute drive, you can always get someone to run you up there ( and back ) or you can walk it in about 45 minutes, we do it all the time. There are guys with boats on the beach who can run you up there, more romantic as you see the island from the sea as Columbus did !

I'm in Tobago right now and my boyfriend and I plan to hire a car to explore beaches and forts etc. Would love to head to Englishman's Bay but have been out off by reading the odd remark online about thefts and muggings, even here. Is it safe? Where did you park? Are there any vendors there? Any tips would be so welcome.

Way too late for the person who asked the question - but - we found it all very safe, and stunningly beautiful. We also had a lovely meal in the cafe/restaurant/souvenir shop on the beach. We went several times, and each time was lovely. The sea is great too, but shelves very quickly, so hold on to your kids!
