The Best New Movies To Stream On Netflix, HBO Max And Disney+ This Weekend

This article is more than 2 years old.

Yes: we all know that the major streaming platforms add most of their new movies at the beginning of the month. But what about the rest of the month? Luckily, we’ve got you covered. This article will detail every new movie you can stream this weekend, between April 9-11.

Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a light week. Streaming outlets like Amazon Prime AMZN , Hulu and Peacock aren’t offering anything new. But over the next three days, you’ll still have 12 movies to choose from between Netflix NFLX , HBO Max and Disney DIS +.

Here are the highlight movies to check out. At the end of the article, you’ll find a full list of every new movie you can stream this weekend.

Thunder Force (Netflix)

Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer...in a superhero movie?! Yeah, sign me up for that. Netflix continues to expand its superhero database (following up on the astounding success of We Can Be Heroes) with Thunder Force, which centers on a pair of childhood friends who gain superpowers.

Thunder Force will be available to stream on Netflix on April 9.

The New Mutants (HBO Max)

After directing The Fault In Our Stars, Josh Boone next set his sights on the much-anticipated extension of the X-Men universe: The New Mutants. Unfortunately, the film was been bogged down by logistics for years and didn’t make it to theaters until 2020. But now the superhero film is reaching a wider audience with HBO Max. The movie focuses on five teenage mutants being studied at a secret institution.

The New Mutants will be available to stream on HBO Max on April 10.

Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale (HBO Max)

Ah, I remember this one! While this may not be a “classic” Disney flick to the masses, it was a memorable movie for plenty of kids (including me). Anchored by veteran actors like Michael Gambon and Mandy Patinkin, Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale tells the tale of a Patuxet tribesman named Squanto (played by Adam Beach) who is kidnapped by English sailors.

Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale will be available to stream on Disney+ on April 9.

Diana: The Interview that Shocked the World (Netflix)

As we look back on the life of Princess Diana, we find that there’s enough material to keep us talking for years. One of the most viral moments of Princess Diana’s life came from an interview in which she discussed her marriage to Prince Charles and her life as a member of the royal family. The documentary Diana: The Interview that Shocked the World takes a look at that conversation.

Diana: The Interview that Shocked the World will be available to stream on Netflix on April 11.

Out in the Open (HBO Max)

From director Benito Zambrano comes this story set in the southern Spanish badlands. Out in the Open (also known as Intemperie) follows a young boy who runs away from his oppressive home looking for freedom.

Out in the Open will be available to stream on HBO Max on April 9.
