Saturday Night Live has created many celebrity romances, including that of tonight's host, Emma Stone. In December 2016, Stone hosted the iconic late night sketch show, and writer Dave McCary directed her in a sketch called "Wells for Boys." The rest, well, is history.

December 2016: Emma hosts SNL.
The actress hosts an episode of Saturday Night Live, where Dave works as a segment director. He had been with the show since 2013. He directs her in the sketch "Wells for Boys":
It's unclear if their romance started immediately, but this is definitely when they met.
June 2017: Emma and Dave are spotted together for the first time.
Emma attends the premiere of Dave's directorial debut Brigsby Bear, and the two are spotted leaving together. It's the first inkling the public has that they are together.
October 2017: Their relationship is confirmed.
News of their relationship breaks, with Page Six reporting that Emma and Dave are officially dating.
January 2019: Emma and Dave attend a basketball game together, and then the SAG Awards.
There's not much news on the Emma-Dave front for over a year, until they are spotted in public together at a Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers basketball game in January 2019. Shortly after, Dave joins her at the SAG Awards, and they take a photo with Bradley Cooper:
In February, he also joins her at the Oscars, and in May, he's with her at the Met Gala.
Summer 2019: They buy a house together in Malibu.
During this time, Emma is pictured wearing a ring on that finger, but they don't confirm any news of an engagement until...
December 2019: The couple announce their engagement.
Dave posts on Instagram a picture with Emma, showing off her pearl engagement ring. (The post no longer exists, as he doesn't have any posts on his Instagram anymore.)
According to Brides, "Designed by jeweler Yoshinobu Kataoka, the Ayoka pearl is set in a diamond halo and rests on a diamond milgrain platinum band. The stunning ring, which is called Pearl Snowflake Ring-Supreme, starts at $4,780 and can be set in 18k beige or rose gold as well."
August 2020: Emma and Dave start a production company.
In the summer of 2020, the couple announce the launch of Fruit Tree, "a new film/TV production banner that launches with a two-year first-look TV deal at A24," per Deadline.
"We are thrilled to partner with our friends at A24," Emma and Dave said in a statement. "Their commitment to thoughtful and original storytelling and embracing artists’ visions feels rare and vital, and we are incredibly grateful that they support our passion to do the same."
A24 said, "We are ecstatic to be taking this step with Emma and Dave as they launch Fruit Tree, and look forward to working with them on creating singular and exciting work through our new partnership."
They have since produced When You Finish Saving the World, Problemista, I Saw the TV Glow, and the TV show The Curse.
September 2020: They confirm they are married (but it's unclear when they wed).
Page Six reports that Emma and Dave secretly tied the knot. They were set to be married in March 2020, but postponed due to the pandemic. According to the outlet, "After photos of [Emma Stone and Dave McCary] surfaced this week showing the couple wearing matching gold bands, a source told us they have definitely tied the knot."
March 2021: Emma and Dave welcome their first baby, Louise Jean McCary.
In late March 2021, People reports that the two welcomed a baby, a daughter named Louise Jean McCary; she was named after Emma's grandmother Jean Louise.
March 2022: The couple attend Paris Fashion Week.

May 2022: Emma rewears her afterparty wedding dress to the Met Gala.
"Sartorial revival," Louis Vuitton wrote on Instagram. "Emma Stone gives a second life to a white dress specially designed for her wedding after-party."
October 2022: The couple attend a Padres game.
Another rare sighting of the couple, but they look super happy together.
August 2023: Another Padres game!
Dave threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the San Diego Padres face the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Emma was there to cheer her husband on.
December 2023: Emma returns to host Saturday Night Live.
Last month, Emma returned to Saturday Night Live for her fifth time hosting the show.
January 2024: Emma thanks Dave in her Golden Globes win.
Emma began her acceptance speech for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy by shouting out Dave, and telling him she loves him.
