What travelers are saying
- Alien W823 contributionsThe cathedral is really amazing. But towers should be open to visitors without pre-booking. The town is also not bad. The dining options are limited.Written May 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Alex SBristol, UK3 contributionsVery well managed nature reserve, gives you a real experience of how the fens used to be before farmland took over. - Nataliia B.Reykjavik, Iceland33 contributionsThe Stained Glass Museum is one of the best museums that I have visited!
This is a truly unusual place, as the museum is located in the Ely Cathedral building and has numerous unique pieces of stained glass panels that range from the 12th century until the present day.Written January 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The owner, Timothy Clark, is an expert and author on historic garden plants. He personally showed us around his beautiful walled garden, and enthralled us with the back-stories of his collection of plants cultivated since Tudor times. We were shown rare crown imperials, primroses and tulips with features we had never seen before.
The garden visit was followed by a captivating talk by his colleague, David about early keyboard instruments, focusing on the Longman & Broderip square piano, which has stood in the house since it was new – in the late 18th Century. David’s knowledge and enthusiasm ranges from medicine and music to electronics and architecture.
Finally we were treated to a “full English” tea in the Manor’s lounge with its beamed ceiling, and surrounded by period furniture. We were served with delicious home-made sandwiches and cakes. What’s not to like?
We thoroughly recommend a visit to Netherhall Manor. We will be back for another look at the garden in a different season.Written May 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There's play ground for kids, nice river boating facility next to it. Pubs and restaurants around. Even I love the most river view from here.Written April 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- John BCambridgeshire, UK833 contributionsOur four-year-old granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed the Ely Museum, and we enjoyed following her around. At the entrance she dressed up as an explorer, and with hat, tote bag for a compass, magnifying glass, binoculars, various other bits and pieces, and a tick sheet of objects to find, set off around the exhibits. (She spent some time studying a skeleton through her magnifying glass).
There were many points of interest, interactive exhibits, and information screens to bring the local history to life. We also enjoyed the many exhibits which were more for older visitors particularly the tools and cultural objects, used in former times in the development of the fenlands. The gaol, with its restraining chains and prisoners graffiti was particularly interesting.
There are toilets on site, a gift shop, and an area in the courtyard where visitors can sit on a sunny day. The bonus of further free entry for a whole year is a nice touch. We hope to take advantage of that.Written May 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He was very helpful when I made contact and arranged for myself and friend to visit. The work is outstanding, and the descriptions and explanations of the thoughts behind the paintings were touching and thought provoking. We absolutely loved it, and found Ted to be a charming and pleasant guide. We will visit again to view some other paintings. Thoroughly recommended to those interested in personal experiences of art. Thank you Ted. You were a highlight of our weekend.Written October 2, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
