Stakeholder talks held as essential Elland Road expansion update emerges at Leeds United
Leeds United have held talks with stakeholders in the city as they complete their due diligence over an expansion to Elland Road, according to i News.
The outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (24 April) that development of the Whites’s stadium has swung back into focus, with Leeds keen to expand their ground capacity beyond the 50,000 mark in the future.
Leeds are keen to establish themselves as a regular Premier League side if they are to win promotion from the Championship this season and a redeveloped stadium is seen as essential to keep the pace with midtable Premier League sides.
Leeds United plot Elland Road redevelopment under 49ers and Daniel Farke
Since the 49ers arrived at Leeds United, they have been praised for their work off and on the field so far. They have worked well in the transfer market and pulled off a masterstroke by appointing Daniel Farke following relegation.
While it remains to be seen whether or not the Whites will book their place in the Premier League this term, the owners at Elland Road are clearly doing all that they feasibly can to prepare the club for the top flight.
Elland Road is an excellent stadium and while the atmosphere there has been praised by pundits and supporters alike throughout the season, it is clear that it could do with a facelift of some sort to bring it up to speed with the modern footballing world.
While nothing is set in stone yet, due diligence is being completed and talks are being held to see how Leeds can expand their ground. Not only would this be great for supporters, but it would also allow the Whites to increase one revenue stream.
Hopefully, these talks kick on in the coming weeks and months as it would be excellent to see the Whites back in the Premier League with a freshly redeveloped ground.
