Intermittently effective if not wholly successful, Eli offers horror fans a handful of jump scares in search of a truly terrifying story.

Christian M The concept is quite interesting, different from other horrors, but the end... It's very disappointing, the fact that it was so different from the usual had caught my attention, but then the ending was a real low blow. Three stars of encouragement I would say Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Kowshik D They made a freaking movie with this story, thats shameful enough. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Satin B Slow burn (pardon the pun) but worth the little story plot 🤔 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/22/23 Full Review Guillermo P A really awful movie that kind of starts OK, but slowly became one of the worst movies I've ever watched. Best avoided! AI could write a better script. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review Justin T I enjoyed this more than I was expecting. I mean it's not a classic or anything but it is entertaining! The film starts with an interesting hook and interesting characters. Then we get some fantastic jump-scare set-pieces. Like some of the best scary set-pieces I've seen in a long time. They are really well executed. Then we get some story and an ending. Everything about the film is well made and engaging. There are disadvantages though. Some of the character motivations don't really make sense. Sadie Sink is really disappointing, I liked her in Stranger Things (2017-) but in this it seems like she can't even act. So overall nothing too memorable but still worth watching, scary and entertaining. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/23/23 Full Review alessandra p It had promise to begin with but god the ending was stupid as fuck. I love psychological horror and this had the promise of being something similar to "A Cure for Wellness" (which, is you're actually wanting a creepy psychological twister of a film based in a "hospital" then watch that instead) there were too many plot holes for the sake of them trying to make this dumb twist work. It could have been really cool and creepy but just ended up being some type of dumb exorcist. And don't get me wrong I love a good possession/demon movie but this felt like it was trying to attempt two different styles at once. The jump scares were nothing special. Overall I didn't completely hate it at the end like I have some other movies, and I don't feel it was a complete waste of time, but it wasn't great and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to others Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Kristy Puchko IGN Movies A promising premise sets a solid stage for terror. Oct 19, 2019 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times "Eli" has a strong payoff too with a memorably intense final 15 minutes. But that roaring finish feels like it should come much earlier in the picture. The story ends just when it's finally going somewhere. Oct 18, 2019 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com We have no real idea what's going on through most of Eli, which results in a film that is more often confusing than frightening. Rated: 2/4 Oct 18, 2019 Full Review Rob Hunter Film School Rejects Netflix's latest horror film is among its most surprising and entertaining. Nov 14, 2019 Full Review Andrew Wyatt The Lens Foy and the film's three writers build to an artless, third-act twist that feels like a future case study for cheap screenwriting rug-pulls. Rated: C- Oct 31, 2019 Full Review Peter Martin ScreenAnarchy Like a jigsaw puzzle broken apart all at once, not all the pieces fit back together into a cohesive whole. At a certain point, however, I gave up trying to make it all fit, sat back, and enjoyed the remainder of the ride. Rated: 3.0/5 Oct 31, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
