Investec W&I loses 30-year veteran in double Guildford exit

Senior investment director Justin Yeldham and financial planner Shazna Bishop have both left the office.

The exits at Investec Wealth & Investment continue as two members of its Guildford branch have left.

The departures include senior investment director Justin Yeldham, who joined Investec W&I in 1994 and takes three decades of experience with him.

Yeldham worked with private clients and their investments, including general investment accounts, ISAs, Sipps, pension funds, and onshore and offshore investment bonds.

Financial planner Shazna Bishop, who joined the firm from Aviva in 2021, has also left.

Investec W&I confirmed the departures but did not provide a statement. It is not known where Yeldham and Bishop are going.

Investec W&I has seen a number of high-profile exits over the last 12 months, many switching allegiance to rival firm Close. These include Annabel Barrow, who became Close’s 17th Investec hire in a relatively short period earlier this year.

Last September Investec W&I completed its combination with Rathbones, first announced in April.

In a fourth-quarter trading update, Rathbones said the departures had resulted in a net outflow of £300m from Investec W&I.

In the subsequent full-year results, released earlier this month, it was revealed that Rathbones had spent £6m to retain key staff on the back of its combination with Investec W&I.

In a statement accompanying the results, chief executive Paul Stockton noted that staff turnover was slowing after the initial spate of exits.
