If box office predictions are to be believed, this "Planet of the Apes" film is poised to dominate the weekend when it hits theaters in May. But as fans eagerly await its release, the promotional campaign is revving up with a whole new batch of promos. One promo includes a closer look at the feral human woman character, Mae, portrayed by British actress Freya Allan, known for her role in the Netflix fantasy series "The Witcher." In a world where humans have regressed to their primitive state, Mae stands out as potentially more intelligent than most, possessing the ability to communicate. This ability makes her extremely rare and an essential figure in fostering friendlier relations between humans and apes.

Check out the new promos for "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes," the fourth installment in the rebooted franchise following the 2017 release, "War for the Planet of the Apes." This new chapter reveals a world where apes have become the dominant species on the planet, and humans are subjugated to an underclass existence.

Set a generation after the rise and death of Caesar, the film stars Owen Teague, known for his roles in "IT Chapter 1 and 2," delivering a motion-capture performance as Noa, a young idealistic chimpanzee tasked with protecting Mae (played by Freya Allan). She holds the key to a near-forgotten history that once connected humans with apes.

"Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" is directed by Wes Ball, known for directing the "Maze Runner" trilogy. This new film marks his first contribution to the franchise, stepping in for Matt Reeves, who directed the previous two films. Promising a fresh perspective, "Kingdom" seems to revisit the franchise's core themes of oppression, dominance, and rebellion, returning to the main idea of a planet where apes are in control.

Also starring Peter Macon, Eka Darville, Kevin Durand, Neil Sandilands, Dichen Lachman, and William H. Macy, "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" is slated for a theatrical release on May 10th, two weeks earlier than previously announced.

synopsis:
Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic, franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar's reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
