The tower's design is elegant and timeless, with its intricate ironwork and graceful curves creating a romantic atmosphe
The Eiffel tower is a puddled iron structure, an iron that has lost some of its carbon and therefore rusts less quickly. It is pyramidal in shape with slightly curved sides. It measures 324m high and is divided into 4 parts separated by a floor.

Great views of Paris from the iconic Tower
We did take a tour since we could not get times to enter the Tower that fit with other things we had planned. It was a rather brisk and overcast day but it was still well worth it to go up and view the city from that vantage point. We had skip the line tickets but you still have security to go through more than once actually and then a line for the elevator. Still it was not too long. Once up it was so great to walk around and look down on the places we had been so far plus where we planned to go the next day. Not being fond of heights, we did not go to the top and feel the best view would have been from the 2nd floor. There are some shops and places to get a bite to eat here. This was toward the end of a rather long day of sightseeing and we actually stopped and had a snack - sandwiches, frites and hot chocolate from vendor booth under the tower and ate there - very enjoyable! Taking a tour was not a bad idea as we got quite a lot of history of the tower and the city of Paris.

    WOW
I've visited Paris many times over the last 50 years but until May 23 have never made it to the top either because I had no money or it was closed. We managed to do it 2 weeks ago. £49.66 for two people so nearly £25 each may seem expensive buy what an experience. Absolutely amazing.

    Got to do it!
Be prepared to do a lot of queuing. It is worth it but…… wow! Any way we had a great time, bit confusing with all the many different queues. The views were spectacular. I booked through experience first and our guide Nicola was very informative and helpful. Lovely girl. But it cost almost twice as much as buying it in person. My advice would be book it yourself and try and go at a quieter time

    Great guide but lousy experience!
Our tour guide was great, but the experience was lousy! We stood in line 2 hours and then we were told the summit was closed. The summit then opened after we were leaving the area and our tour was over. We would have waited but now had no ticket to go to the top! Very poor communications on the part of the tour provider!

    Incredible Experience!
This was one of my must do's in Paris so on my second visit to Paris, I planned a visit to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I had planned to do this back in the Spring of 2020 and had bought the tickets but that trip was canceled due to the pandemic, so here we are three years later. It is critical to order tickets in advance. The website is very easy to follow and just order the tickets as soon as you are allowed. The tickets go quickly. We choose 1:30 for our time. Got there in plenty of time, entered through the East side (near the gardens) as recommended - having a timed ticket allowed us to be on a more shorter line to get through security into the complex. Then we went to another line to actually go up in the elevator. Here we needed to wait a little bit, it's a two tiered elevator, one group goes up a set of steps, the others stay on the same level. You stay on this elevator to go to the second floor to catch the next elevator to bring you to the top. That elevator is much smaller. At the top it is magnificent! It was a cloudy, breezy day - perfect to take pictures of the surrounding landscape. I have to say I thought it would be much worse to do this but it wasn't too bad with purchasing the tickets in advance. Another couple from our river cruise went to the Eiffel Tower the day before at 11:00 AM and they said it was practically empty. Probably because weather predictions were for rain. It was busy at the top but not too bad, got plenty of opportunities to take pictures and be on the rail looking out. We did not stay to go through the museum or the shops on the first floor. It was just too crowded on those levels. Afterwards we just found a bench on the grounds under the Tower and just people watched and took in the whole environment. What a magnificent structure. So happy that we did this even though it was very crowded. The weather was perfect, cloudy and not too hot. Cannot imagine doing this in the heat of the summer and I bet it's great to be up there during the Christmas holidays!

Eiffel Tower is a must see stop in Paris
You're in Paris so it is a must to visit the Eiffel Tower. I could not get tickets online for summit access, so I booked directly from the Eiffel Tower website to walk up to the second level (674 steps!). Still has beautiful views from the second level. Wished we could have gone to the summit, so we could say we went to the summit, but as it turned out, when we arrived, the summit was closed anyway!

    It met expectations
A real joy to see! If you want a great view and less foot traffic, visit before 9:00 a.m. It was a great experience and can’t say enough good things. One fun feature is all the people watching, people posing for blocks, the antics are part of the fun. Thank you the late Mr. Eiffel for fighting to keep the tower in place despite it being paid for in its first year and bring an icon to Paris for many years thereafter.

    Worth it
Worth it to climb up to the second level, as an experience. And we managed to get tickets o the lift to the top, incredible views (takes about 45 mins waiting to take 2 lifts to the top). Keep looking for lift tickets, none were available when I checked a few weeks in advance, then more tickets showed up about 5 days prior to our visit.

    Worth the Wait
This is the first time I did not buy tickets in advance since we weren’t sure when we could fit it in to our itinerary. The lines were very long when we arrived around 9 am on a Saturday. There is now an excellent system in place to keep the lines organized and moving. We easily found the line for non ticket holders, went through the first bag check and eventually purchased our tickets. The line then immediately goes thru a second security check and then proceeds directly to the elevator line. The trip to the top requires a change in elevators and will take some time if the lines are long. The lines to descend are also long but are well marked and organized. The view from the top is worth the wait. Make sure you walk up one more flight after you exit the elevator.

For $15.50 US PP, we purchased on-line head of the line tickets (before leaving home) for a reserve 11 AM ascend time of the tower (thus eliminating the normal two hour wait time standing in line to get available tickets that normally cost around $14 PP – Note the Paris Museum Pass does not cover entering the tower). We were unable to find tickets anywhere that would take us to the summit. Reason = we later found out it was in maintenance.

Tower security line entrance is the delays you will encounter. = First security entrance check is a good 30 minute roadblock, so time yourself if you have a set time prepaid ticket. Once you reach one of the four leg elevator legs of this big erector set, you have to go through another security (Bag Check) portal. Today was Sunday and in the off season so the crowds are NOT big, very much to our pleasure; once we got on the lift to the second level (the very top single elevator was not in service due to ongoing tower restoration, but for someone that has been to the top years ago I can tell you level two is very impressive in itself for the view. The 62 F temp and high cloud cover gave us a good 20 mile visibility all over Paris.

We had two children (7 & 4) and took the stairs to the second level. Taking the stairs allowed us to lookout along the way and provided that sense of achievement afterwards. We visited in late October without tickets as we were unsure about the weather. Lining outside in thick mud was the worst part. We queued for tickets for about 45 minutes and recommend purchasing online to save some time.

We walked around the first level before continuing up to the second level and didn't feel we missed anything by not going to the top. We returned later to view the lights just from the ground.

Eiffel Tower Paris
The summit is closed until February 8 but we were able to get to the second level. Be sure to purchase tickets in advance to avoid the long lines. There are many second party groups that sell skip the line tickets but it is just as simple and less expensive to go to The Eiffel Tower website where you can chose a time.
Be sure to download tickets ahead of time and print or take a photograph on your mobile device as internet is not always good in the city.
The views even from the second level were amazing. You can walk around outside, we were then in January and it was chilly and windy outside but we were well bundled up.
Would love to go back when the summit is open.

La Tour Eiffel is clearly the most photogenic man-made structure in the whole world. I recommend taking a tour that circles around it and photographing it from many angles, both day and night. It's beautiful at any angle, with any level of light. I don't know if going up in it is worth the trouble, given the security and the crowding. My first visit was in the early 2000s, and you could just walk under the tower and look up. Now you have to pass security checks and there are huge Plexiglas walls on all sides. I know why those measures have been taken, but it discourages me, frankly. If you do go, buy tickets in advance. The Jules Verne restaurant has the highest prices I've ever seen on a restaurant menu, so don't go there unless you want to pay at that level.

If you’re going to Paris you need to visit the Tour Eiffel. Buy your tickets online - I recommend from the official site if you’re not buying in a package. Make sure you check for the official site - don’t click the ads that come up at the top of the web search!! We saw sites selling summit tickets but it was actually closed when we went.

If you have your ticket already you shouldn’t need to queue to get in. Very well managed security lines and the queues clearly display times so you can get in the right queue.

We had a lovely experience for a few hours. We went in all the gift shops and had a drink and macarons in Bistro and lunch in the Dome Restaurant/Cafe. Excellent service in both - really impressed by the staff.

A very nice experience . Easy access to the tower , I would recommend buying tickets from the official website , the time slots given are a guide as they allow you in ahead of time which is good . We had tickets for the summit but to be honest the second floor is as much as you need . The summit line can be long and at the top it’s pretty blustery so you wouldn’t spend much time up there . All in all a very enjoyable experience .

Highly recommend booking your tickets in advance as the queues looked horrific. We arrived an hour before our booking and visited the cafe, we were then able to go up 30 mins early. Unfortunately the Summit was fully booked so we had Level 2 tickets but it was still beautiful, especially when the lights started flashing whilst we were on level 2. A Christmas day to remember!

We visited the Eiffel Tower in the evening at sunset. We booked online prior to travelling (highly recommended) to Paris and we booked to take the lift to the top. However the winds picked up quickly earlier on in the evening so we only made it to the second floor. Yet the views of Paris were still stunning and we got to watch the sunset over this beautiful city. We reached the bottom at 2200 and just in time to see her twinkle and it was astounding wonderful. Our daughter was delighted and it has without a doubt created a very special memory for her.

NB:- We travelled during the pandemic when France was on our travel corridor. The tower was set up excellently for social distancing with lots of hand sanitising stations. Numbers were vastly reduced to ensure no space was crowded. We as a family felt very safe in regards to COVID-19.

If there’s one iconic image that says ‘Paris’ it’s the Eiffel Tower. It’s at its best at night when you can enjoy the city lights of Paris from the vantage points on the various levels. Queues are pretty inevitable so expect them and allow time. For this reason I wouldn’t recommend a visit to anyone whose legs aren’t up to long periods of standing etc. For everyone who’s up to long periods of standing and queueing a visit is something you’ll remember. We went to the summit and made a good choice to use the stairs when coming back down ( about a thousand steps! But okay in descent ). And of course two couples got engaged while we were on the ‘summit’.

Having visited Paris once before on a whistle stop tour, I decided to book tickets to ascend the tower as I’d previously only seen it from beneath. I booked tickets for the summit online in advance of my visit.

Please be aware that even with advance tickets there will be some queues as you pass through the security gates for bag searches etc so arrive before the time stated on the tickets.

I chose to head straight to the top. The lift goes to the second level, and then you queues for a lift to the summit. When you stop at the second level it seems high enough...it’s only when you reach the top that you realise the height of the tower.

It’s certainly worth taking the lift... I’m quite fit, and decided to walk down one level which was an experience but wouldn’t want to go up after a day of walking around the city.

Would definitely do this again - an exhilarating experience.
