Burlington-Edison has a lot of potential to be a great school, but isn't at its peak. The students can be disrespectful to teachers and overall the environment isn't great. The sports besides girl's volleyball, girl's basketball, and boy's golf are mediocre and the facilities are run down.
It is overall a nice school where I've had mostly positive experiences. A large amount of the teachers really care about the students, making sure they're feeling alright and are doing well. If I could see one thing change, I would like to see more language options, as the school now only teaches ASL and Spanish. I went to West View in the district so I was fluent in Spanish but didn't want to start over and be forced to learn things I already knew, so I took ASL, but I'd have liked to have more options and have learned that the other options have been taken away because of budget cuts and such.
Quality regular sized high school, diverse, and welcoming community. Great extracurriculars and sports teams
Very friendly teachers, making sure we are in a safe environment in regards to covid. The education is great, with lots of resources, and great counselors to help you find your path.
Most of the teachers are good. The sports are easy and fun. The campus is pretty spread out though so in the rain and snow it's a pain.
In general it’s a great school, there are many clubs that not only look good for colleges but are so fun and you meet new people and it’s just a great environment, the teachers there are so nice and help with anything you need. My almost 4 years here have gone fast but we’re memorable.
This School is the only reason I managed to make it through high school. Excellent school. Great Community and great learning environment. Still managed to even pull off a 2020 COVID19 graduation.
Very good teachers, student support. Good diversity in students as well as classes available. Some facilities could be updated and need for more space. Could assist students with college readiness.
The buildings are sad, the concrete is cracked. The teachers don't get paid enough. But no school has a better sense of community than Burlington-Edison High School. My art teacher asks me about my mom, my English teacher asks me how I'm feeling (how I'm REALLY feeling), and my science teacher answers any question I can imagine. There is truly no other place I would rather go to school.
I liked that this school was so supportive and felt like a very open enviroment. The bullying level is no where near the other schools I have attended, in fact I'd say there's hardly any at all. There is definitely drama, but every high school has some! I love the teachers, and the rest of the staff is just incredible. The sports to the theatre arts is honestly the best in the area! I would recommend this school to anyone interested in attending!
When I was younger I was so excited to go to high school. I was expecting the type of high schools they portray in the movies. So you can imagine my supersize when I got there. People weren't singing in the halls like in High School Musical or Glee. There were no jocks falling in love with nerds. And those Magical teacher and student moments, well I guess I'm still waiting for mine. The reason I label this school as average, is not because it wasn't like the movies. It is because it is so ordinary. Nothing special. Its like I'm getting set up for an average life, and that's not for me.
There are some really great teachers here that are very supportive of students learning. Although a lot of the students here are often very judgmental.
The school has a good career center that stays up to date on scholarships and college acceptance dates.
In high school, I have had a great experience through the band and choir programs, which are where I find myself most at home. However, I do think the overall priorities should be a little more balanced. In particular, I think they should invest more money and appreciation towards the arts and clubs. At my school, they seem to mostly care about sports, and I think we need a better balance so that everyone can reach their full potential and be appreciated. For example, one year our drum line had to prepare for a big event, and we needed the school gymnasium to do certain types of choreography for our upcoming show. But the majority of the time we tried to get into the gym after school, we would be kicked out due to it being booked. On the day of the performance, we didn't play nearly as good as we wanted to. I know our school cares and is trying their best, but I think one thing that can be worked on is communication and support for the arts and clubs for reasons like that.
I feel as though this is a bias rating system by requiring so much sign up and searching to find where i wanted to review, for the lack of accessivity, and this being set to googles review service, I feel it is important to rate for both me and my friends who have rated the same rating elsewhere but not here.
Burlington-Edison High School has been a great place for me, I’ve learned so many valuable things from this school from being involved with so many different activities and programs.
Liked the athletics and removal of course pre-requisites so that all students could access AP classes. Wished teachers could be nicer and build relationship with all students more.
