Crystal Palace to return for £30m striker who is quicker than Odsonne Edouard this summer - We are Palace

Crystal Palace are likely to make some serious moves in the transfer market with a striker being one position that’s priority.

Oliver Glasner will want to strengthen up front this summer as it remains one of his weakest positions right now.

Jean-Philippe Mateta has been the first choice for the Austrian up top, while Odsonne Edouard has struggled.

This likely sees the Frenchman the man sacrificed this summer, while Mateta will also have suitors from the Bundesliga as he does every window.

Therefore, Crystal Palace could be looking for a new goalscorer and now it’s been reported that one option is likely to be on the cards.

No surprise it’s a striker no stranger to Dougie Freedman, as he’s been linked for years.

Crystal Palace likely to return for Eddie Nketiah

According to National World journalist Chris Wheatley, Palace will be back for Eddie Nketiah this summer in a bid from Oliver Glasner to improve his striking options.

“With Eddie Nketiah the departure is really possible,” he explained.

“There was interest from Crystal Palace in the past, I think they will maybe be back in this summer and there will be other teams of course.”

This is an interesting link, as he’d be quite the coup for Freedman.

Following serious interest in January, it seems likely that Palace will return with their interest in the summer, but with £30m quoted in the winter, Palace could quite easily afford him this summer – as he’d also be cheaper than he would’ve been mid-season.

What does Nketiah have over Crystal Palace’s two other strikers?

Nketiah as a striker is fundamentally better than both Edouard and Mateta and the fact he’s impressed at Arsenal says a lot about his talent.

Nketiah can participate in link-up play and also has the finishing required to be a serious goalscorer for the Eagles.

With Glasner wanting his Palace side to be a counter-attacking team, Nketiah also has the speed to help the Eagles hit sides quickly on the counter.

He has a top speed of 32.2 km/h as per UEFA, which is substantially quicker than Edouard who has a top speed of 29.35 km/h as per SpeedsDB.

Nketiah would be a substantial upgrade for Glasner and we’d expect his five-goal tally this season to explode with more game-time and in a system designed to get the best from him.
