In this documentary, Eastwood, along with several friends and colleagues, discusses the actor/director's films' production in detail and shares some insights and funny anecdotes. In contrast, the director discusses the complete process and his work in general.
One of the stories that I enjoyed learning about was Meryl Streep's feeling as she was being directed while performing alongside Clint on The Bridges Of Madison County. There's also this nifty little fact on how he directed Spielberg's mom in an episode of Amazing Stories. Oh, and of course, I got a confirmation of some of those rumors that claimed Eastwood was a one-take and done director, and there's more info on the reasoning behind this approach.
In terms of its production…
Affecting doc with plenty of insightful interviews about Clint's work ethics and his legendary legacy as director and actor.
“Every day you learn something from Clint. Just the way a set is run, the way a director can talk to people, the way he can get performances out of people, the way you can not get bogged down in details that are not gonna make the movie any better.”
Clint is truly one of the most creative minds in all of cinema; a true auteur of his craft.

Really insightful documentary about Clint and his career up to that point! You have people like Scorsese and Spielberg just geeking out about Eastwood as an actor/director. It talks a lot about his quick and efficient filming methods. He’s still doing it to this day because his newest, Cry Macho, was literally announced last October. From last October to now he set in motion pre-production, production, post-production, and now it’s being distributed on Friday in cinemas nationwide. That’s less than a year turn around for a film project to be completed. Eastwood is now 91 years old and nothing is slowing him down.
This just got me that much more excited for his newest.
Clint Eastwood truly is the last of his generation of filmmakers. A man born with a love of the industry, and who grew up being a part of it and then shaping for generations. A remarkable director who loves to tell stories, not about gaining critical acclaim or vying for awards.
A wonderful talking-heads reflection on his directorial career (as of 2013) and how it came about. Faces from the past and present come together to guide the story about the man we know onscreen, and the way he works off.
As well as hearing from Clint himself, this is a wonderfully entertaining watch for fans of Clint, and also of Hollywood, it's just a shame it wasn't a bit longer.
65 minutes of declarations of love and hymns of praise of several filmmakers and actors on Clint Eastwood with some cuts of his movies and original sounds of Eastwood himself.
Is good to watch when you like Eastwood or the other participants but as a documentary it´s not all that great because it gives only very little information about the person Eastwood. It gives just some information crumbs about him.
Absolutely charming is Meryl Streep about the making of of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY!
Brian Grazer definitely needs a new hairdresser!
Richard Schickel directs his third film on Clint Eastwood and this one here lines up an all-star cast giving their thoughts and opinions on everything from his movies to actually working with him. Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Tommy Lee Jones, Morgan Freeman, Hilary Swank, Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon, Marcia Gay, Tim Robbins, Brian Glazer and Gene Hackman are just a few of the people on here telling their stories about the legend.
Best of all is that we also get to hear from Eastwood talking about how he got into directing, what he expects out of a production and best of all is hearing him talk about films that just didn't catch on with crowds like J. EDGAR. Overall this…
If you are a fan, this movie is about the process Eastwood takes to make a movie and mostly about big stars and filmmakers talking about what kind of person he is and his body of work.
A good homage to this Legend of Cinema, not the man but the real myth of Clint Eastwood.
