Notes
Gold label with "STEREO" printed twice, once on each side of the spindle hole. Artist is shown as "BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND" on labels.
Allentown Record Co. Inc. pressing, identified by faintly-etched "ARC" in runouts, followed by a date code for every stamper. The date configuration may appear in a conventional MM-DD-YY form, but more often occurs in pressing-plant shorthand as M/D/Y, M-D-Y, MD/Y or without separators altogether, and includes only the final digit of the year [196]6, [196]8, etc.
Since the date-codes are typically the only marks that distinguish one plate from the next (and each plate would only have been used for 1000 records or so), Allentown's use of the same master/matrix number and label-design makes this one single "pressing" stretching through a period of high demand from August 1966 (the initial pre-release manufacturing) to October 1968 or even later. Even the gold company inner-sleeve stayed the same.
For users who wish to identify early platings as relatively more "original", an August release date is mentioned at Michael Bloomfield's online bio (September seems more probable), and the LP debuted in the Billboard charts the week of October 8, 1966.
Publisher "Milkman's Chivaree" is misspelt "Milkman Chivalree" on this release.

Recommendations
Reviews
- This is some legit Chicago-style blues. Every player is holding their own in the group. Paul Butterfield has a recognizable style.
This is a nice clean copy and the pressing is good. Recommended. - The first real super group (move over Cream...) punch out one of the best electric Chicago style blues-psych-rock albums ever.
Mixing covers & standards, well produced with a clear clean balanced mix, this is an essential keeper from this outstanding & committed band.
Their finest moment. - Addendum to my earlier post today May 22, 2017. I especially recommend this said recording to musicians who can appreciate this wonderful musical flavor and mix of ingredients that go into it.
- A close friend introduced me to the Paul Butterfield Blues Band East-West album shortly after its 1966 release and let me borrow it for a while. I was about 14 or 15 years young then. It was very progressive not just for blues, but generally and incorporated so many styles and genres e.g. blues, rock, jazz, eastern music, etc. and such a wonderful presentation, virtuosity and group dynamic from these fine musicians. I'm very eclectic with my music. This recording is timeless--one of my all time favorites. Everyone I know, whatever age who loves good music, I have them listen to this.
