Do you like the sight and smell of dead fish? Do you like watching old people spit? Do you like to see polluted water choking out the life of aquatic animals? How about trash and litter strewn about in a way that resembles a landfill? Then this is definitely where you want to go. Spitting, dead fish, bad smells, all in abundance and excess. The polluted green water in very inviting. The partially decayed bodies of recently dead fish provide the traveler with a feeling of oneness due to the fact that dead fish smell bonds itself with the traveler. Enjoy!

I was at Wuhan Jade Boutique Hotel and the cordial Manager of Western restaurant Splendido, Tiffany Zhang, suggested me to visit this Dong Hu Lake just a few minutes drive from the hotel. Dong Hu can be translated to English as East Lake. As I arrived at the lake by a Taxi it was really overwhelmed. Even the road is so beautiful - running through the lake with trees flanking from both sides - a small bridge enhancing the beauty of the drive as the tourists take leisurely boat ride. Really a nice place to just sit, enjoy the mild breeze, see the Sunlight crowning each tiny ripples with sparkling gold. It would be memorable to have a romantic rendezvous at such a serene setting. Recommended to the business travelers of Optics valley seeking a place to just seat and relax and let the nature rejuvenate them

As I live 2 years in Wuhan, on this side of the river, I consider it the most beautiful place in Wuhan if you like nature. The par is nice, big, green, clean. There are not many treastaurants, just snack kiosks. But if you like Chinese snacks, you will find something. If no, take your own sandwiches.
I suggest to go there and use bikes. The sceenery is nice and beautiful.

Excellent park! Worth to spend half a day or full day. They have your bus (RMB40 per day) if you don’t want to walk. Or rent a bike, RMB10-20 only.

The East Lake is one of my favorites and I have been there a few times. In spring the cherry blossoms are absolutely stunning and there are big crowds so one has to avoid the weekends. It is better to go there on a fine day with plenty of sunlight, for good photos of the flowers. To get a distant view of the lake and its bridge, one could go to the roof area of the nearby Wuhan Museum. I traveled with tour groups and a friend of mine there also helped me with transport. At peak season, one should not gamble on getting a taxi to return to the city.

Nice park to take a walk, but I didn't see anything really special about it. I also didn't like the dirty water and polluted air.

It is ok... not great. If you are in Wuhan, have a look. If you are not in Wuhan, don't go for this.

The lake is worth a visit if you are in Wuhan, but not a destination in itself. It's quite large and there are scenic areas. Overall a nice place for a stroll.

We visited East Lake early in the morning and it was not crowded. We took the option of a trolley ride so we could see as much as possible. The lake and views are stunning, we loved the Lotus Ponds and luckily saw some flowering. Well worth a visit.
