This district is suitable for settling down. The Tainan Train Station is situated in this district and the transport hub. Behind the train station stands the tallest building in Tainan. There are department stores and hotels surrounding the station. Furthermore, the National Cheng Kung University and its green area cover a vast area of land. The district, therefore, sends out an academic, yet relaxed atmosphere. The alleyways on Dasyue Road near the university are filled with restaurants and shops offering exotic cuisine. It is a quiet getaway in the hustle and bustle of the city. The Banyan Garden and the green area are a top choice for the public to have a walk after picnic. Many foreigners visit here every year. The Old Tainan Magistrate Residence is the historic monument that is the most well-preserved and at the same time the most luxurious during the Japanese rule. The Great East Gate on Dongmen Road is perfectly in sync with the modern busy traffic. The seed museum hidden in the alleyway in the East District is a utopia that is highly recommended. As for Yongkang District, it is the biggest satellite town in Tainan. Though it is modern and busy, it has stories to tell. For those who want to have a glimpse of the history of early Tainan’s development, visit here.
Eat, see, and stay in East District/ Yongkang District
This university dates from the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) is known for its picturesque campus, and the iconic banyan tree, which provides shade during the baking summer. The historic campus is open to the public. NCKU is best known for its science and engineering schools, which evolved from NCKU's roots as a technical college in...
A beautiful park hiden in a silent community but easily accessible. The location is opposite to the Culture Center of Tainan City across a drive way. If you are nearby this area, you can visit by the way.
"Elegant building and old trees in Tainan Theological College And Seminary"
reviewed 6 July 2015 by Newjasmine
This location was the North Guild “Su Wan Li Garden” in Qing Dynasty, then sold to Presbyterian Church, and finally established Tainan Theological College And Seminary here. Due to less-development, most buildings and old trees can be retained.
The main building was designed in Gothic architecture and Taiwanese traditional roof. Beautiful window types and wall decorations catch everyone’s eyes.

Easy to find East of rail line, beautiful restored Japanese style shopfront, fresh & tasty food, great service and very family friendly.
Highly recommend
Here is good place to drink with friends. Everything all good! Good service and kindly. We will comeback next time!
I have tried this restaurant in two different locations! One in Kaohsiung and Tainan! Although they’re branches I feel the one in Koahsiung had even more varieties!
However both restaurants offered very tasty foods! There were Western, Japanese. Chinese , even some European food ! My favorite was roasted beef and roasted pork ! Seafood is also another good choice!...
All staffs are very friendly rooms are very neat and clean . Especially horizon club lounge service is classy all staffs are very polite. Food and beverages are good I like Indian cuisine in breakfast.
Nice family room and comfortable bed.
1F Gift shop is nice.
Breakfast is ok...no surprise.
Room is awfully clean, just the shower room lightening is a bit not enough.
Overall, It think it's a nice CP hotel to stay in TaiNan city.
The hotel has nice fancy lobby. And the room was comfortable. The location is great which next to a shopping mall, and also next to the culture park which is a great walk morning or night time. Great stay in Tainan city. It’s also not far away from High speed rail, not far to Tainan train station and close to...
The hotel has friendly staff and clean rooms with plenty of room. Although the hotel does not have a restaurant, there is one downstairs and an alley around the corner FULL of Taiwanese cuisine. A good deal.
You can't beat the price . The hotel seems to have gone through refurbishment which has resulted in good quality rooms and a really comfortable bed with a firm matress. The big "But" is a result of the lingering smell of cigarettes in my non smoking room. I had to open up the windows and turn on the A/c for...
