LaVeda Evelyn Hamburger

LaVeda Hambuger, 84, formerly of Gering, died March 17, 2013 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Her funeral service will be held March 22, in Gering. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff.
LaVeda was born July 30, 1928 in Blue Hill, Neb. to John and Evelyn (Kuhn) Seeman. She graduated from Gering High School with the class of 1946. She married Samuel Eugene Hamburger on Sept 15, 1946. They made their home in Scottsbluff before moving to Spring Valley in Gering where they lived until Sam passed away. Sam and LaVeda operated H&B Packing for many years. LaVeda then spent many years working at Wards Catalog and Saxs Discount Store until she re-tired. She was blessed with four children and later a foster son. LaVeda enjoyed working in retail and truly enjoyed her church and church functions at Faith Lutheran Church in Gering where she was a charter member. She loved studying the Bible and her daily devotions and serving on the LWML at Faith Lutheran. LaVeda enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband Sam and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved cooking breakfast and sharing time with her friends at Gray Eagle in Gering. She moved from Gering to North Platte in March of 2011 to be near family. Survivors include her daughters, Lana (Kenny) Woodbury of Kannapolis, Kan. and Carol (Allen) Ziegler of Katy, Texas; sons, Sam (Kathy) Hamburger of Edwardsburg, Mich. and Phillip (Tammy) Hamburger of North Platte; foster son, Gary (Tracey) Smith of Anthem, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband Sam, and sister Donelada Conrad preceded LaVeda in death.
