Notes

One of the first all-digital albums that has never been given a master-tape sourced CD release. Repertoire releases are sourced from vinyl. Several songs from the album are scattered across CD singles and compilations, which are from the masters, but are edited down.

If You Weren't Afraid fades out on most editions, but goes to a cold ending on the Canadian LP release.

The final album credits are sang through a vocoder, which commonly get mistaken. The correct credits are as follows:
This album was produced by: Giorgio Moroder and Harold Faltermeyer.
All keyboards and programming by: Harold, with a little help from Giorgio.
On drums and percussion: Keith 'Foot' Forsey, recorded live-to-digital, at Rusk sound studio.
Digital system by: Sound Stream, incorporated.
Roland's Micro-composer programmed by: Harold, assisted by Brian Hohner.
Engineered and mixed by: Harold, Giorgio and Juergen Koppers 'The Floppers'.
Second engineer: Steven Smith, assisted by Carolyn Tapp and Roman Olearczuk.
Keyboards played on piano-coder, engineered by: 'Merlin' Bogan.
Tea and coffee by: Laurie Kanner.
Energy equals MC squared.
Thank you Albert.

I know I'm here a lot on this page, but I am warning people that these Repertoire reissues on vinyl are GARBAGE. The tracks are vinyl sourced and pressed onto vinyl again and it's ridiculous that they think this would sound good. Avoid at all costs.

Considering this is the first ever digitally recorded album, it is truly TRAGIC that it has never received a full, master-sourced release on CD or digital. And it this rate, it never will. Especially since that it cost thousands to make and is arguably a one of Giorgio's best pieces of work. The only CD's that currently exist are taken from vinyl - official and unofficial. The blame for this lies with Repertoire Records, whom, to take the cheap and quick option, used a vinyl record for their CD release in 2001 and then falsely labelled the 2013 version as remastered, when it was a carbon copy of the vinyl mastered 2001 release, but repackaged. That's without even starting on the horrendous audio quality. This has happened endlessly with this company and due to this, they have plugged the gap for anyone else who could possibly do a better job. Even though it was a direct to digital recording, the album was also backed up onto standard master tapes, which DO exist and ARE out there, as I emailed Brian Gardner and he has a 15 IPS copy. Not only that, they were used for various 90's compilation CD singles, the 1985 album Innovisions, the 1985 compilation From Here To Eternity And Back and were recently accessed for their multi-track stems to be used as remixes for sites such as Beatport. I really hope that one day, this historic album will be given the proper master treatment it so rightly deserves, but sadly, I doubt that it will ever happen and I don't think Giorgio is really bothered anymore as long as it has a release either way. Thank you Repertoire Records for continuing to do a terrible job.

Yes, best version with bonus tracks associated with the album instead of random bonus tracks from other albums. This is just like my copy except mine has one more bonus track, the 7'' Single Promo of "What A Night"

Stupid question -- but who actually sang the vocals for Baby Blue and If You Weren't Afraid? I seem to find all sorts of credits (even tea and coffee) -- but not the vocals. Donna Summer? Giorgio himself (fed through a vocoder or pitch shift perhaps?)

Does anyone here have a copy of the US release with plant ID 73? None of the US releases currently in here have this noted. Thanks!

I have this cd too but i think the audio is not perfect. The quality of the sound is a bit muffled and it is missing brightness and high end sound. I still think this release is a bootleg.
You would say it is obvious. Einstein pictured on the cd lable showing his tongue!?
I also wander why the track Evolution has been added to this release, it has, besides Moroder, nothing to do with this album E=MC2.

I still think there is not one cd album release that used the original digital mastertapes. Could it be that the device which have to play the tapes aren't available anywhere or maybe the original digital tapes are missing at all.
The 2 E=MC2 tracks on the Unidisc cd single has to my opinion the best soundquality which could be a transfer taken from a master source but i am also not certain.
