I first heard this album in 1989 while setting up for a show. The producer was playing it over the PA. I knew it was Duane Eddy – someone might imitate him for a song but not an entire album, right? Anyway, I went to Tower and bought a copy. It has been in and out of rotation in my car, iPod, CD player ever since.
My favorite track is "Theme for Something Really Important" written by Jeff Lynne – so good that someone should have made a spaghetti western just so it could have been the opener. Really, there isn't a bad cut on this album. It works for intense listening or background for a backyard party. There is a faint background vocal chorus on the Paul McCartney track, "Rockestra Theme", but otherwise, it's pure instrumental, guitar driven goodness. And that's just fine with me.
Highly recommended!
