Deena (Beyoncé Knowles),Effie (Jennifer Hudson) and Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose) form a music trio called the Dreamettes. When ambitious manager Curtis Taylor Jr. (Jamie Foxx) spots the act at a talent show, he offers the chance of a lifetime, to be backup singers for a national star (Eddie Murphy). I've loved this movie since I was 6 years old. This has always been a favorite for me and the casting was top notch. Must see for EVERYONE. Shoutout to JHud, Beyoncé, Anika, J.Foxx, Eddie, Sharon, and Keith for making this movie what it is!

Obviously the songs are great and they lead to some truly memorable scenes (the stage musical is a classic for a reason) but overall this plays like a typical biopic stuck on montage mode for most of the movie.
