      Critics Consensus

Neither awful enough to suck nor sharp enough to bite, Dracula Untold misses the point of its iconic character's deathless appeal.

Richard Corliss TIME Magazine [Evans] carries Untold by admirably fulfilling the two essential functions of a period-movie hero: to enunciate comic-book dialogue with Shakespearean authority and to look great with his shirt off. Oct 16, 2014 Full Review Scott Tobias The Dissolve By throwing out the traditional vampire conflict, Dracula Untold loses its intrinsic (and prurient) appeal without gaining anything valuable in the process. Rated: 1.5/5 Oct 13, 2014 Full Review Wesley Morris Grantland Most of the time, I found myself feeling like I was waiting for a turn with the gaming controls. Oct 10, 2014 Full Review Mini Anthikad-Chhibber The Hindu The Twilight series defanged Dracula and this prequel has not come anywhere nearing giving the good count his fearsome canines Aug 21, 2023 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed A very good re-imagining of the Dracula tale, one carried by the enthusiastic performance by Luke Evans. Aug 10, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The film’s attempts to make its subject’s mass murderer a heroic, tragic figure succeed only in a misapplication of style and intent. Walter J Suspenseful, exciting, riveting and touches on the historical. By far the best Dracula movie in existence. The critics got it wrong on this one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/19/24 Full Review Isaiah This movie kinda sucked. I also love this movie. It's become a favored pastime, and is undoubtedly fun even if it isn't all too coherent or well made. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Vaettra Saw it when it came out ten years ago, but I really liked it. Properly dark and tragic and emotionally engaging, and Dracula was mighty when he took his revenge. Well made effects and a charismatic Dracula. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/26/24 Full Review Jon J I thought this movie was absolutely fantastic, it's a very interesting take on the Dracula and vampire story, very surprised it's so low reviewed Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Michael C One of the best modern depictions of Dracula and the vampire subcategory in general. A sequel is more than warranted. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Krystian K Rly liked the movie, enjoyed watching whole thing and i watched it again. No idea where bad reviews came from?
