(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the House passed H.R. 5863, The Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act. This bill includes Congressman Doug LaMalfa’s (R-Richvale) bill, H.R. 4970, Protect Innocent Victims Of Taxation After Fire Act, that will exempt wildfire relief payments from federal income taxes.

Vote Notified for Disaster Tax Relief Legislation that Exempts Taxes of Wildfire Settlement Payments
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the House of Representatives released a notification that H.R. 5863, The Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act, would be considered for a vote the week of May 20th. H.R. 5863 includes Congressman Doug LaMalfa’s (R-Richvale) bill, H.R. 4970, Protect Innocent Victims Of Taxation After Fire Act.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) announced the winner of the Spring 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Las Plumas High School Senior Kayla Grozea won for her piece, “Soaring Above Lake Oroville Dam”. The annual Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in the 1st District. This year’s theme is “Dams & Lakes for Goodness Sakes - Storing water for flood & food”.
