Dota 2 Crownfall Update
The Crownfall update for Dota 2 has arrived, bringing a whole new metagame to partake in to unlock new locations, characters, and segments of an ongoing story.
This page acts as a comprehensive breakdown of the Crownfall update for Dota 2.
How Crownfall Works
As you play games of Dota during the Crownfall event, you'll accrue tokens. Keep in mind that whichever token type you earn will change depending on which hero you play as. These tokens can then be used to unlock different paths on the overworld map, advancing the story in segments and earning you rewards in the process.
During the journey across the overworld map, you'll collect various treasures, candy, Crownfall Coins, and other exciting rewards. There will even be special encounters like the Candyworks Caravan and the Token Trader that you'll want to keep a special eye out for!
You'll also be able to discover brand new loading screens, sprays, chatwheel lines, unique hero sets, emoticons, and more along the various overworld paths.
Ongoing Story
The story of Crownfall will play out over a four-act narrative spanning the next few months. As soon as a new act becomes available, you'll be able to play through the new story, or you can wait and pace things out. There is no FOMO or gating/vaulting of content. The acts are as follows:
- Act I - The Markets of Midgate
- Available now
- Act II - The Deserts of Druud
- Available in mid-May
- Act III - The Frost of Icewrack
- Act IV - The Spires of Skywrath
Treasures
Act I of Crownfall features two different treasure chests, meaning a total of 24 new item sets to acquire, some of which you can unlock just by playing. Some of these item sets include:

Candy Sacks
By finding the Candyworks Caravan on each of Crownfall's maps, you can then upgrade it and exchange whatever candy you have acquired for couriers, wards, hero sets, and more!
Crownfall Coins
By exploring different paths on the map, you'll earn Crownfall Coins. With 10 Coins on hand, you can trade them at the Crownfall store for around ¥55.00 discount on any item that costs ¥55.00 or more.
Dragonus & Shendelzare Updates
Along with an all-new model for Dragonus and Shendelzare, and complete item set, there is a new pedestal and unlockable alternate style! There are also new animations and ambient effects, and even custom icons and effects for various abilities, alongside a new portrait, minimap icon, new voice lines, and more.

To unlock the Skywrath Mage Arcana alternate style for Dragonus, complete the main quest in Act IV. To unlock the first alternate style for Shendelzare, complete the main quest in Act IV. For the second alternate style, complete all main quests and side quests in Crownfall.
