ESPN signs Doris Burke to multi-year extension, will anchor NBA coverage

ESPN is locking up one of the biggest names in NBA coverage for the foreseeable future. The network announced a multi-year extension with Doris Burke on Tuesday.

ESPN promised Burke will be involved in "high profile" NBA games in both the regular season and playoffs throughout her new deal. Burke will also call finals games on ESPN Radio and appear on the NBA Sunday Showcase program on ABC.

The network did not release the financial details of Burke's extension.

Doris Burke anchors NBA coverage at ESPN

Burke is considered one of the best NBA analysts around. Burke joined ESPN in 1991 and worked her way into a prominent role as a basketball analysts. She became an NBA game analyst at the network prior to the 2017-18 NBA season. Burke then called the NBA finals on ESPN Radio in 2020, becoming the first woman to serve as a game analyst during the finals.

Burke has received numerous accolades during her career. She was given the Curt Gowdy Media Award by the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in 2018. She also received the WISE Women of the Year Award in 2017. Burke, who was a star basketball player at Providence College, was also inducted to Providence College's Hall of Fame and the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
