It was less a stroke of genius and more a stroke of genitals.
Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg once received a very oddball holiday gift from neighbors they had known for “barely” a year: a portrait painted using a very hard technique.
“We got a gift and it was a painting of both of us and it was like this real sort of quirky art like, ‘Oh wait a minute, oh that’s us,'” Wahlberg told Page Six recently, adding that the present came with a zip drive video. “The zip drive starts with [the neighbor] talking first and he’s like, ‘We had to get you the most unique gift that anyone in the world can get you because you probably get everything.”
He continued, “It cut to a video of a man with a blank canvas and he takes off his clothes and painted the picture with his ‘utensil!'”
McCarthy, cracking up, explained that the artist is based in Australia and paints with his “you know what.”
“You’re watching a video of him painting us with his power tool. It’s crazy!” McCarthy added, telling her husband, “I can’t believe you remembered that.”
Wahlberg jumped in, “I nearly dropped the painting on the floor and washed my hands.”
As for whether the painting was, ahem, hung, McCarthy admits the art was hidden away.
“It’s around,” Wahlberg said. “We haven’t fully recovered from the trauma of it all. But … It’s a legit guy … whether or not it’s a legit thing to do, that’s a whole other question.”
He added, “But it looks just like us, I mean he nailed it, no pun intended.”
