I am absolutely gobsmacked at the low ratings for this film here on letterboxd.
I watched Donkey Punch a few times back in 2008 and it was maybe the most tense film in memory, so when I started it again tonight I imagined it wouldn't be as frightening as before. I've seen hundreds of movies since then. Disturbing horror and suspense films, so you know, I figured this wouldn't blow me away like before.
The first half is better than I recall. It's colorful and fun and has a continuous soundtrack of some of my favorite music. And the rest of the film has me so terrified I can't barely take a breath. I still find the gender line fuzzy…
