Two great Soul ballads "Give Me Your Love" & "We Don't Have To Talk About Love" in addition to two decent Dance tracks "Go For It" & "Turn It On" are good enough to turn this into his best album of the 80ies.
Considering the awful releaes that followed not a major achievement, but there is some proper Soul on this!
Fairly recommended.

Peabo Bryson is one of Soul music's last dramatic crooners. You could say he's second to last and Luther Vandross the last one.
Original Peabo fans had already become slightly nervous about the way the releases had recently gone. Most those fans found the records from the late seventies Peabo's best music.
Sure, as always, there's the question of personal taste. Anyway, it's fair to say, also now over thirty years later that Don't Play With Fire stands in line with those earlier releases. The production stays with the discreet analog arrangements of the past few years and refrains from experimenting with that then new all-synth approach.
The songs which alternate between upbeat and slow are perfect vehicles for this exceptional tenor singer. Peabo Bryson never sounded more powerful, never more convincing, never better than on this album.
Highlights are the Michael-Henderson-inspired title song, the Reggae-influenced Turn It On with its Gino-Vanelli-like harmonies, the classic Peabo ballad We Don't Have to Talk (About Love), and the intense climax in Give Me Your Love. My favorite is the song Words: It starts like a Blues and grows into a melancholy ballad, then comes to a standstill and thereupon bursts into a jubilant Funk tune - Peabo sings like a young god.
