Hours after signing with the Red Sox, new first baseman Dominic Smith is set to take the field for his new club.

Smith will start at first base for the Red Sox, batting seventh in his club debut. The 28-year-old did not arrive at Fenway Park until shortly before first pitch, delaying the lineup’s announcement until barely a half hour before the game was set to begin.

The Red Sox announced Smith’s activation as part of a flurry of roster moves, which also included the official announcement that Masataka Yoshida is going on the injured list with a left thumb strain. To clear space on the roster the club also designated right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez for assignment.

In addition to Smith, Rob Refsnyder is also set to start in left field and bat third with Giants’ left-hander Erik Miller (0-1, 5.54 ERA) on the mound. Tyler O’Neill will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup, and the righty-hitting Connor Wong will start at catcher and bat sixth.

Kutter Crawford (1-1, 1.35) will get the start for the Red Sox.
