What's better than one Chopra? Two Chopras! Sometimes talent runs in the family and it is oh-so-glorious. Just like we have the Hemsworth's, the Deschanel's, and the Gyllenhaal's, we also have the Chopra's. Priyanka needs no introduction, she has cemented her place in Hollywood over the years. So has her sister Parineeti, in Bollywood that is. Despite not being biological sisters but cousins, the pair refer to each other as "sisters."

Parineeti is an actor and musician who rose to fame in 2011, after appearing in the romantic comedy, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. Acting wasn't her first passion though, the star has a triple honors degree in business, finance, and economics.

Parineeti is an outspoken woman with a vivacious personality. She isn't afraid to share her personal struggles with her fans. She was applauded for talking about her mental health openly.

She Never Wanted To Be An Actor

Having a more famous family member can be nerve-wracking, especially if one is also in the industry. While it may seem like Parineeti is living in her sister's shadow, she is a celebrity in her own right. She rose to prominence in 2011 after featuring in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. She has garnered herself enough success to be called a household name.

The 32-year-old didn't always want to be an actor, she wanted to be an investment banker. Parineeti has a triple honors degree in business, finance, and economics from Manchester Business School

According to South China Morning Post, the star revealed"I never wanted to be an actor; I was a nerd and weighed 85 kilos, so naturally becoming an actress was never on my mind! I studied finance and was a topper. I even went abroad to study further but returned during the recession. "

Parineeti also revealed how it irritated her when people brought up her sister Priyanka's career and asked why she didn't get into acting too.

"People would tell me, ‘Your cousin is a heroine, why don’t you get into acting as well?’ That really irritated me. But when I saw the process of acting up close, I felt like I could do this well."

Parineeti and Priyanka worked together in 2019 when they voiced Anna and Elsa for Frozen 2's Hindi version.

She Spoke About Battling Depression Openly

She has been forthcoming about her mental health struggles and isn't afraid of how opening up about her personal struggles might affect her career.

According to Hindustan Times, the star revealed "I’m referring to the year 2015 - end of 2014 and all of 2015. I would say the one-and-half years were truly the worst time of my life. Two of my films, Daawat-e-Ishq and Kill Dil didn’t work. That was my first setback.

"Suddenly I didn’t have money. I had bought a house and done big investments. Then I went through a big heartbreak in my life. Literally, all departments in my life were down and I had nothing positive to look forward to."

Taking about one's mental health can be a terrifying thing to do, it can even be more terrifying for celebrities whose lives are under constant scrutiny. However, Parineeti chose to open up about battling depression.

"I just used to be in my room, watching TV, sleeping, getting up, staring all day. I was a zombie. I was a typical filmy depressed girl. I would curl up on my sofa and sleep, falling ill all the time. I didn’t meet the media for almost six months."

Parineeti is seemingly doing great these days. She has most recently starred in the Hindi remake of The Girl on The Train, which will be available on Netflix from the 26th of February 2021. It could be a game-changer for the star as it could very well be the movie that'll land her in Hollywood.
