Diogo Gonçalves

At 11, Diogo Gonçalves already wore an eagle on his chest, after taking his first steps in football at Almodôvar and Ferreiras. He went through all the academy levels and became U-17 National Champion for Benfica in 2012/13.

On February 14, 2015, a few days after turning 18, Diogo Gonçalves made his debut for the B team. Against Oliveirense, he came on in the 74th minute, in the 4-1 triumph. Two and a half years later, on August 9, 2017, against SC Braga, he carried out his first match with Benfica’s first team.

Diogo Gonçalves was loaned out to Nottingham Forest and Famalicão, respectively, in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons.
