Prior to App State: Walker joins the App State program after an undergraduate career that saw him spend one season at Cleveland State University before finishing out at the University of Massachusetts. Before beginning his collegiate career, Walker was a standout player at Independence High School. He averaged just under 18 points per game en route to earning All-Ohio Honorable Mention honors. He then spent a year at Woodstock Academy where he averaged 11 points, five rebounds and three assists per game. He helped the Centaurs leap to third in the national polls as the squad went on to post a 35-5 record. He was the 14^th ranked recruit in Connecticut's class of 2018. His only year at Cleveland State saw him appear in 24 games. He scored 113 points to accompany 37 rebounds and 13 assists. He tallied five double-digit scoring efforts and tallied a season-high 17 points against Wright State. Walker then transferred to UMass where he appeared in 39 games for the Minutemen. He recorded a career-high of 22 points against Saint Joseph's as a sophomore. He excelled from the floor during his final year at UMass, shooting just under 60% from the floor. He comes to The High Country having played 63 games at the collegiate level. The 6'9 player has scored 301 career points and posted 132 boards with 34 assists. Walker is the son of former NBA lottery pick, Samaki Walker, who won a championship with the Lakers in 2002.
