I like that the boyfriend is set up as the one who will figure it all out, but still the cheeky detective is a bit ahead of him. It's fun in a classic Clue sort of way, with a couple novel touches to keep it interesting. Gene Kelley is a vision, but her casting isn't ideal - with a less than passable British accent. Why would Margot need to leave a latch key outside if she supposedly set this up and could have just let him in? 2. Why did husband need her latch key? He could have left his own and recovered it afterwards when he came home. 12 o'clock is past visiting hours so he could have just told his friend he was tired, dropped him off first at his hotel and recovered his key. 3. The fact that Margot could not open the door with her latch key is sufficient and necessary to prove her innocence. 4. Margot wanted to go to the movies before being talked out of it by husband. How could she have set this up in the time available that she decided to stay home? 5. Any defense attorney worth half his salt would have made mince meat out of the police case. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/31/23 Full Review Red T An All Time Classic. Everything is fundamentally excellent. The first 40 minutes trots a long at a very leisurely pace in one location and is extremely dialogue heavy with nothing else that memorable to look at. The catch is the dialogue is extremely engaging, well acted, and well written despite being a massive expose dumb. The kill is extremely well done and very suspenseful. Once things go off the rails everything gets flipped on its head and is pretty unpredictable from there out. It is very witty, engaging, and suspenseful the whole way through with a very satisfying ending that had a huge grin on my face. Great music also that's really memorable.       Derwent May Sight & Sound Ray Milland is sufficiently suave as the misbegotten genius, and Hitchcock has moved about very sure-footedlv on what continues to be for the most part just a stage.
